Family time and riding

Post by fish »

Man, I love what a fellow rider wrote recently - about riding very early mornings so as not to miss out on time with his late rising kids.

I could play 18 holes of golf and be home while my kids were still in their jammies on weekends.
Yep, 2.5 hours .....the starter knew me and would let me pay when I finished the 18th hole. Frequently the mowers were still on the greens, and would park until I hit up. If it was light enough to see the ball - I was out there.

Still rising early for my scooter rides. Last w/e I was home making my wife and daughter their breakfast as they came into the kitchen.....after a 45 mile round trip ride to my coffee village, a sit and a chat with the locals, and a ride home. They had no idea I'd been away.

A great side benefit to these day-break rides is the lack of traffic, and the superb sunrises. Plus it packs more life into your day. And vice versa.
When we get old, we can sleep in!

When I worked night shift in Glasgow I used to love heading out on my Ducati early on Sunday mornings, up Loch Lomond side, right at Crianlarich, right at Lochearnhead and home via the Duke's Pass and Aberfoyle.
Wonderful times.

Great photos, Fish, thanks.

Love the Buckeye.

What's that body of water at the bottom of the hill?

Now that I am retired I try not to rise early any more. It's my reward for working since I was 11.
After my military time (12.5 years), I went back to college to finish my degree, and then I worked my behind off for another 30 years. I think I deserve to sleep in. The 'honey-do list can wait until I have had my coffee.
Currently own:

I think that would be a nice video.. Not too many folks on here do videos though. I bet Cornwall and the adjacent coast is a nice scenic ride too.
