I did enjoy my trip to Paris, Brussels, and Brugge-Bruges back in the day. It is indeed a short hop from Paris.
I've still got a wooden shoe souvenir kicking around here some place and when my daughter visited Belgium years ago she brought me back a Mons Monkey souvenir. Quite a history about the WWI Mons battle that took place and the Monkey was supposed to bring passers-by good luck or something.
TBH I doubt I'll ever get back there again. But it's possible. If I ever do travel abroad I'd like to do Ireland, England, Scotland, and Wales. If time and money allows a trip to Paris and another train ride to Brussels would be great. Somehow I still remember seeing a lot of VW's parked in fields along the way. I think it was some kind of rail side storage depot for VW or something. A Jeep was to be seen here and there also. . .WWII leftovers.
