I'm pretty sure that winter thing is just a myth.

Say's he with a smug look, in sunny Queensland, and just coming in to Summer. :) :)

Time to go South! The Florida Keys anyone?

>>> Oh and Greg....#6 surf and/or boogie board 8)

There's some fun stuff written in this thread, made me giggle! Cheers Ya bunch of Goblin's! :lol:

Lol. I moved to a place that actually gets snow. But I may keep it insured to take advantage of any good riding days.

I double up gloves and wear layers. No heated stuff for me. Can't find those scooter skirts here in the states or I'd have one.

Here in NY my insurance company (Progressive) only offers 12 month policies. No 6 month. So I'm ready in that respect ;) Last year I rode through December, then on came the snow ice sand n salt. Bah!

Not for me.
I ride my scoot for fun, not because I have to. (Give me a bicycle, however, & the story may be different ....)
When I had my Super Cub C70 I commuted on it 32 miles each way in 16F dry weather. That's when I learned my 'comfort tolerance' was about 25F. (It took me an hour to get to work.)
I've got plenty of cold gear (a combination of sheep hair & extruded plastic fibers), but I guess that 'awareness of mortality' has finally convinced me to dial it back a little.

This has probably been discussed ad-nauseum, but would it be better to change the oil before putting the scoot to bed for the winter, or to change it in the spring? For my little outboard, I change in the fall so that any water or other gunga doesn't get a chance to sit and corrode things. Would the same logic extend to our more terrestrial machines?
