PCX insurance coverage

Post by chet »

Curious, Insurance coverage on the PCX, do most riders have comp & collision or liability, just got a quote for liability only $70, sound fair

I pay 11.34 a month for full coverage through state farm. It's so inexpensive, it just made sense to go all out.

Wow, the cost of insurance in the US seems so cheap compared to the UK - must be part due to license restrictions here (taking the full test for £650 made little difference to the cost a friend paid to renew their motorcycle insurance).

$218/year for basic liability from State farm in Wayne county(we're number one!). Too bad they don't offer seasonal policies (any of the companies).

Depends on a lot of things really. £35 per year extra for my PCX on my combined car/motorcycle policy from Carole Nash.

Yes GN2 I know you think they are a rip off and cheaper is available

Third Party Fire & Theft here, paying £239 with a £250 excess this year, will see what to change up next year. Carol Nash also here, and would not change them for anything :) :D

State Farm here in Kansas : $168 full coverage per year (Collision, Comprehensive, Theft, Vandalism, etc.) with $0 Comp. & $250 Collision deductible (lowest deduct. offered). Can also add Medical payout coverage for an additional $156 per year (pays out a max of $4800 per year direct to insured if injured in a wreck). I took the full deal for $324 a year / $27 per month. I had budgeted $30 per month for insurance, so it was an easy choice for me! Been with State Farm for 35 years & have always been pleased.......

1st year I paid £330ish third party fire theft with £200 excess, 2nd year in after looking around I went for 3rd party only - £100. I could have got TPFT or fully comprehensive for say £100+ more, but with excess and added cost after that for new insurance (5 years needed before any no claims can be purchased for bikes, or so it seems), not worth it.
The money saved on servicing over 2 years and the money saved on paying for better insurance and then any excess should a claim arise, and then more added on the following years due to a claim, I've saved about £1500+ over 2 years. Almost the cost of the PCX new!
As it's kept in a secure underground car park at work and chained to my tow-bar of the car on my drive (thick chain and lock) and hidden between the car and my house and covered, I figure not much chance of it being stolen. As yet I do not have need to park on the street or supermarkets, but if I did I would just lock it securely with the chain and other devices.

Full coverage on my PCX cost me 5800 baht/year (less that US $200). That includes medical insurance for me and a passenger, theft, accident, and bail bonds.

Did you get a fully comp quote. Strangely it can be the same price or cheaper

£550 probably with some excess? and then increased premiums during a claim (unless protected). At prices like that you need to consider getting the cheapest insurace and paying a few hundred for good security - chains and locks that cannot be cut through without hydraulic cutters. Someone may go into you or you may spill, but you may still find it cheaper to repair or write-off older bikes than keep paying such prices.
