Givi D1136ST Windshield for 2015 PCX150

Post by ima*rider »

I just got the recently made available (in the U.S) Givi D1136ST to replace the stock make-believe windshield on the 2015 PCX150. I looked at the Honda one for $299.00, plus about $50 for installation, and decided there had to be a better idea. I thought about waiting for the taller Givi 1130, but I really wanted to get a better windshield than the stock one now. The Givi D1136ST is 63cm (slightly less than 25 inches tall.) Based on moving my hand around while riding I needed a screen that would be a few inches taller than the top of my mirrors to cut down the noise and buffeting to an acceptable level. This one looked like it would work. I watched a U-Tube video of the installation process, and decided it was pretty simple. It was a simple process. I was a little confused for a while because the Givi lacks a pin on either side that goes into a guide on the scooter under the windshield, but it is stable enough, nonetheless. It is also very easy to scratch the black paint on the underside of the screen when putting it in place. Oh, and it was $89.10, including shipping, not $299.00!

With the new windshield installed, where does the wind hit your helmet? Also curious how it affects your top speed (at 6'2" and 190 lbs, I'm maxing at about 60 mph - 65 if I flatten out).

Hey, for some time I've wondered if the reflection from the under side of a windscreen like that would catch the dashes turn signal indicators. Modular and full face helmets can block line of sight to the cockpit which prompts me to constantly reset the switch rather then take my eyes off the road.

Please make a short vid of your second image angle with a turn signal on... you might have sold me on windscreens if this resolves an issue of driving with unwanted signals flashing.

I'm 5' 11", 170 lbs. The wind doesn't hit my helmet. It goes over the top in normal riding position. If I sit up as straight and tall as I can, I do feel the wind hitting the top couple inches of my helmet. So, if you're 3" taller, you might feel it hitting the top of the helmet in normal riding position. Unfortunately, a person's height doesn't really tell the story, because everyone's sitting height (from the seat to the top of the head) is different. If you have long legs for your height, you might not feel it, but if your inseam is 31 (like mine) or less, your extra three inches would be in your sitting height, and you would feel it. If so, you might be better off waiting for the Givi D1130, which should be available soon. If your inseam is 34' or 35", your extra height must be in your legs, and the the wind probably wouldn't hit your helmet, depending on how much padding you have between your bones and the seat. I can't tell you if the WS affects my top speed, because I've had the scooter less than two months, and I haven't wanted to test the top speed until I get some miles on it.

I checked it out sitting on the scooter with the directional signals flashing. You can't see the turn signal lights reflected in the back side of the windshield because of the black hood over the directional signals and speedometer. The signals and instruments are recessed two or three inches, so the windshield can't "see" the directionals because of the hood. At first I thought I could see them in the windshield, until I realized I was seeing the reflection of the directional signals on the outside of my glasses! That won't help much, even if you wear glasses, because it only occurs when you look down at the signals, which is what you're trying to avoid

Thanks all for the replies and comments. I'm looking forward to getting a taller windscreen. As it gets hot here, now I'm worried I won't get enough air with the screen. On the other hand, riding her stock I got kind of beat up by the wind and noise this weekend on a longer ride (put about 75 miles on!). Maybe I'd just have to leave the helmet's windshield up for more air...

I have a tall Givi and it get a bit of air coming up from where the gap is over the front cowl to balance the air flow. Seems to be enough to keep me cool enough as I ride it on days up to 95 degrees. I'm going to try a little shorter Puig screen that's being passed on to me to compare, but I know in the early spring and fall I will always want the Taller Givi.

Hi, I've just ordered the Givi D1136ST for my 2015 PCX 125. :) I'm curious of the difference with the original windshield.

What do you think of it?
I'm looking into either getting the Givi D1136ST, or the GIVI D1130ST.

I have recently fitted the D1136st. Although there is an obvious improvement from the stock windscreen, I find the wind is now hitting me in the neck area which is far from ideal.

How tall are you?
I've ordered one, but I'm only about 5'8/5'9.. - Hoping the wind is redirected over me..

Can a windscreen like the D1136ST be had in a smoke color instead of clear?

For Info:

The Givi D1130ST should be available in the US within the next couple of months. It is several inches taller than
the D1136ST. The D1130ST has been available in several other countries for a while.

I plan to wait for the D1130ST. It looks like a good design.

Not sure now. I've been under the impression that the smoke version of the D1136ST would follow after release of the clear version. It is odd that it's not available yet (at least in the U.S.)
Only suggestion I have is to email Givi and ask them. If they have a "chat online," maybe go that route?
I recently mounted the clear D1136ST. Still testing. Summer is a rough time to do it as it's so dang hot (90F and upwards). I'm a hair shy from 5'5 (haha, I can still see the mark on the wall. Just kidding)

Almost forgot  Welcome triplblkconv!
Silly me, I'm passing on some help to you and I've no idea where you are? Can you please go back to the control panel and fill in the location area? I have some easy to follow directions below my post. After all I don't want to give the wrong info to another part of the world. That's NOT going to help!
Cheers and thanks :)

I just picked up a open box 1136 from revzilla, and can definitely say why it was returned by the first purchaser, although the windshield fit the screw holes on bike, the front came too far down, and blocked the fairing from being put back in place.

Not caring to send it back, I got my trusty harbor freight 1/2hp belt sander out and took 1/4 of an inch off da nose of the windshield, till I could get the fairing to go back under the nose.

like this one, but mine cost like $40, and did not come with a stand http://www.harborfreight.com/6-in-x-9-i ... 61750.html

I now have about a month on mine and I'm very impressed. It doesn't cut much wind at all for me I still see way over it, but it really balances out I think the look of the bike and has a little bit of visual weight to the front end. I have a HONDA OEM tinted screen somewhere between here in Thailand , I'll Mount too. They're so interchangeable

"Long-time listener, first time caller" I've read here and other places that the screen for pre-2015 models caused a lot of buffeting for many riders. How about the new one; any improvement? I'm 5'10" with a longish torso and often ride my 2015 180 miles across the state to see my parents. Cutting the wind a bit would be a real plus on these 4-5 hour trips. Thanks!
