Re: Sayonara Dr. Pulley
Would it be possible to put 13G Rollers into my 7,500 stock variator? sorry if this is a stupid question.

Re: Sayonara Dr. Pulley
I have 13g sliders in my stock variator, could not be happier with the mod.

Re: Sayonara Dr. Pulley
Variators don't really have an rpm. The mass of the rollers controls what rpm they pull at. The stock rollers are really too heavy for the best acceleration.

Re: Sayonara Dr. Pulley
I took my PCX out for a long ride for the first time since I went back to stock rollers from Dr. Pulley.
I felt like my friend had come back to me after a long absence. Or, it was the kind of feeling you get when, after a long illness, you return to health. I, for one, will fool with the variator no more.

Zonky, can you confirm that you had SR2015 sliders, and not SR1814 or something off?

I'm afraid mine were 1814.chicaboo wrote:Zonky, can you confirm that you had SR2015 sliders, and not SR1814 or something off?
Re: Sayonara Dr. Pulley
You need SR2015. The 1814s will cost you speed since they won't push out far enough on the variator plate.
They probably rattled around line a spray can, too? In future anything labeled as 20x15mm is safe to run.

Maybe you should change the title of the thread to "Wrong size sliders for the bike installed and I didn't like that they weren't working right". Instead of implying to everyone that installing the correct DrPulley sliders would be a step backwards.flyingzonker wrote:I'm afraid mine were 1814.

They are genuine. The knockoff designs are orange from what I've seen.

Re: Sayonara Dr. Pulley
Well, the bike seemed louder to me with them in--but I thought it was engine noise. Maybe it was a fast rattling variator.chicaboo wrote:You need SR2015. The 1814s will cost you speed since they won't push out far enough on the variator plate.

Re: Sayonara Dr. Pulley
With the sliders I hear a sort of scrubbing sound as I drop the revs when they aren't quite fully engaging the variator plate. But nothing awful...flyingzonker wrote:Well, the bike seemed louder to me with them in--but I thought it was engine noise. Maybe it was a fast4 rattling variator.chicaboo wrote:You need SR2015. Are you going to try the correct size and have another crack at it? If you do, you might be happy with 12g or 13g for your weight.

Re: Sayonara Dr. Pulley
You're right, using lower variator weights means that the engine will run on higher revs - thus will be louder.flyingzonker wrote:Well, the bike seemed louder to me with them in--but I thought it was engine noise. What I believe the other inmates meant that the smaller sliders can rattle - especially at idle when there is no tension on them.
