New PCX 150 ordered UK

Post by Johnvaux »

Hello fellow PCX'ers, John here.

Silver PCX 150 ordered via superbikeshop in Aylesbury.

Honda only stock the 125 version here in the UK, and as I have a full licence, I thought I'd be ok with the extra 2 bhp :D

Just waiting on shipping and registration, then the little Honda will join my 2011 CBR600F in the garage.

Only been riding since April this year, 2500 miles covered already though.
I bought the PCX to save the CBR from commuting duties and as transport for the winter months too.

I'll be doing all maintenance myself, and hope I can add something of use to the 'already knowledgeable' forum.

Wow, not many people order a 'foreign' model for UK use - are you sure it's left hand drive :P How much was it? wonder what insurance companies will make of a 150 here in the uk.

£2500 plus delivery, so the same as main Honda dealer price for a 125 version.

I've got it insured via mce on my CBR policy for £120, the 125 is a tenner less !!

134mpg iceman. ..impressive! !

150 miles covered in and around the city.
Impressed with how easy it is to ride, great lighting in all respects from the LED's. Stop start is exactly as it says, a useful feature if only for the 5 minutes peace at the railway crossing.
Nippy enough to leave everything you've filtered past, dead at the lights.
Very few mods complete: H2C screen, small mirrors, ctek connector for battery conditioner. Nothing else planned except maybe a magnetic sump plug.

Only anomaly is the 90.9 mpg calculated after the dash gauge said 105. I'm sure that'll balance out as I get more fuel ups on fuelly.

CONGRATS! It's always good to hear a guy say he will get on with his services himself. I know it can be expensive to secure a service manual in some areas of the world but it's worth it man. Welcome to the forum and when you are ready to do a valve clearance check give my video a look and think hard if you really need to do it. But if you do will have owned the PCX for all time

The PCX is a fun scoot. You'll appreciate the slight bump in power I'm sure...It's not a whole lot, but 13+ BHP is pretty good out of a 150.

Is the european 150cc different from the US ones? Basically, is it just a larger CC bike with a few engine mods above the 125 and otherwise the same, or does it share some things with the US version i.e. parking brake/indicators, etc. I gather that is just for certain markers overseas, but where do differences in models actually come into effect? Johnvaux - any pics :)

Holly is the CBR's name yes :D

The PCX was sourced from Italy, and is full euro 2015 spec I believe. So exactly as you say, a 125 with a a cc increase.

Next mod will be proper rim tapes I think.

John,

Love the windscreen! The tinting really sets off the rest of the bike...

What color(s) are you thinking for the rim tapes? Going with white, or throw a splash of color into the mix?

Either way, you are looking great there!

Cozy, Purdy and Pals aready! :P Holly's coming around.
Lil' sis will need a name. Must pay attention to her attitude after you finish dressing her. Even little ol 150's get sassy ;)

Looking back at your photos, and wanting a new screen myself I have a few questions:
(if you don't mind me asking :)

1) how tall are you?
2) does the wind hit you in either or all of: the face/chest/or back?
3) are your bars now set at their full forward position (up)?
4) if they are fully forward, do your Mirror stems hit the screen when you fully turn the bars left or right?
5) do the Brake levers hit the screen when the bars are turned fully left or right?
(I ask because the Givi medium screen that I had mounted (that looks about the same height as your H2C), got in the way when turning my bars full in either direction. My brake levers hit that screen with my bars set forward. So, I sadly sold that screen and the stock screen is back on).

It appears in pic 2 that your mirror extenders maybe? hitting your screen. Are your bars turned full in that pic and are they in fact hitting? And your levers?

Sorry for all the questions :| I just think I'd like a higher screen before the colder weather sets in. I really like my bars full forward, my levers higher and my new mirrors for that "pizazz" look. Hope I can keep everything as is and add a new screen without bumping it at full swing. Possible?
Thanks for reading, WN

Thanks Mike.
Thinking red as my rst ventilator textiles have red detail on them. (I don't wear my leathers on the pcx ...well not yet lol )

WN, The mirrors rest perfectly against the screen at full lock but dont move it, the bars are straight up. The brake levers don't touch anything at all.
I'm 6 foot, so wind hits me at the neck and above. But I wear a good "Oxford "neck over and layer including wind blocking gear under my jacket.

The scoot ( name to be decided of course ) is my commuter and errand runner. The CBR is for distance and fun, and I have a car too. So if the weather is horrendous I have back up transport. Although I do ride the scoot in any and all conditions.
