Forza starting system

Post by happy trails »

I have had my PCX150 for a month and belatedly have become interested in the Forza 300. I was wondering if the Forza starting system is the same as the PCX, i.e. uses the stator to swing the engine on a start? I recognize that is a perhaps trivial thing to care about, but I absolutely love the transition from silence to a running engine. Waay cool. Thanks.

The Forza 300 has a conventional starter motor.

The PCX has an innovative engine developed especially for it.

Offset Cylinder
Low friction cylinder.
Weak Valve springs as a speed restriction (reduced engine friction)
No starter motor. (The generator is the starter motor, weight saving, no wear)
Start Stop
Side watercooling. (weight saving)

the Forza engine was pinched out the SH300 from 2007 which is an overbored version of a previous forza 250. The engine is bulletproof and proven but not particularly economical.

The Forza 300 engine is not the sh engine, it is totally different and it has an offset crank, the PCX does not.

Well, about the economical view,

I had a PCX125, it ran on 0.22l/100km, 11 HP, the Forza runs on 0.32l/100km, 24 HP.

So where do find a more economical 280cc scooter?

.22l/100km? < that would give 1283.98mpg or 454.45mpl (UK but still!)

BM,

Where did you find the weak valve spring idea? I have heard that and that sometimes the valves float before the bike reaches maximum. Here fitting Honda Sonic double valve springs is a common mod. Not sure exactly what the result is but..
