Introducing Ourselves!

Post by Pat Anderson »

We are Pat and Patty Anderson, from Birch Bay, WA, in the Upper Left Corner of the US! Love to hook up with any other Forza / PCX150 types in Whatcom or Skagit counties!

I have had my 2014 Forza 300 ABS for a little over a year, about 2,000 miles so far. Patty just got her 2013 PCX150 a month ago, and her MC endorsement about a week ago, she has 125 miles on her scoot in the week she has been riding it (about 20 of those were on the Motorcycle Safety Foundation course).

We are both looking at replacing the stock windscreens with talller ones, probably Givi. I read the thread on the issues some folks have had with the Givis, but the buffeting is NOTHING compared to the wind that piles up on my torso with the weeny little stock windscreen. So far, Patty has not been going fast enough for it to be a problem, she likes about 45 mph, and that's fine with me too. But I also occasionally ride 70 mph on the freeway, and the wind just wants to rip me off the scoot, so I need to do something.

I will check in periodically, looking forward to learning a few things here!

Welcome to the forums, Pat and Patty! You guys are on the exact opposite side of the country as me. :)

You can't go wrong with the biggest Givi, I have it on my PCX and absolutely love it. The PCX looks like a snowmobile, but it's 100% worth the protection.
Currently ride: 2011 Honda PCX 125 - Upgraded windshield and seat, keeping this one mostly stock
Previously rides: 2005 V-Strom DL650, 1974 Vespa Ciao, 2011 Honda PCX 170 (tons of mods - takegawa 170cc big bore kit, gears, etc), 1996 Honda Nighthawk 250, 1987 Honda Spree, 2000 KTM 125SX, 2003 Honda Silverwing, 2007 Genuine Buddy 125, 1998 Honda PC800, 2008 Buddy 125 (white), 2008 Buddy 125 (red), 2001 Honda Reflex, 1987 Honda Elite, 1988 Honda Spree, 2007 Yamaha Vino, 2007 Honda Metro, 2x 125cc pure-chinesium dirt bikes

I have the tall Givi on my Forza and like it a lot. It's very quiet behind it with little wind. It's taller than the Honda tall replacement so you may be looking through it.

Do folks usually buy the Givi windscreens from Giviusa or from some other vendor?

I bought mine from a vendor (I think it was compacc) rather than going through Givi, it was cheaper. Find out which one you want by looking around at peoples' PCXes on the site or looking through one of the many threads people have made about windshields, then google that model number. :)

You can see what the tall Givi looks like on the pcx by this picture of our bikes. Still, the tall windscreen works great and makes riding a lot more fun.

OK, I just hit the Submit button for a D1123ST($152.10) for the Forza and a D322ST ($90.90) for the PCX 150 purchased from sporttour.com. I have watched a couple of YouTube videos, and installation does not look too difficult. Any "gotchas" on installing these puppies?

If you are getting the 322 it is mid height as apposed to the tall 323. If you do any running on freeways you will not like the mid high. We didn't we have one in the basement i would have given to you, depending on what my wife has to say about it. I added a piece of Plexiglas to ours to bring the wind protection up to about that of the tall one. Then we just went ahead and bought the tall one. I doubt that she will ever use the mid high one again.

Thands! My wife rides the PCX 150, and she wanted the mid-height windsheild so she could see over it, as she was concerned about getting caught out in the rain and not being able to see through the tall windshield. She also does not ride on freeways, she likes country roads at 45 - 50 mph. But we'll see how she likes it!

I just talked to my wife and we decided that I would take another look at my mid height windscreen with the part i added. If the added part can be taken off and reapplied whenever we wanted, we might keep it as a prototype to create for others who would like to ride with the mid high one during the summers but would like to add the other part in the winter.

Hello! I just installed (today!) a touring windshield from National Cycle. They are a US company based out of IL. The windshields are made in the USA and I had it in 2 days! They come in three heights, I got the middle one and couldn't be happier. www.nationalcycle.com

Hey! We just got our NEXUS cards, so maybe we could come up for a ride if you are not up to coming down! Do you ever ride down to the States? Patty is not much up to long rides, but I might be!

Because of a minor indiscretion ala 1972 when I was a hippie
I'm not able to cross the border
but did a lot of travelling thru the US until they started getting sticky- 2007
welcomed everywhere I went
so I'm reciprocating

Canada is beautiful on both the eastern and the western sides. However, if I had to choose a side, I would choose B.C. our daughter lives in Washington State and it is very lovely there, so I am guessing that B.C. is about the same.

Well at the risk offending our Canadian friends, I would say tha BC would be wonderful as ou 51st state! And Alberta as the 52nd! Beyond that, those other provinces should probably remain part of Canada!

Yeah, there isn't one.

This is the only forum I've ever been a part of that doesn't allow editing.

Anyone know why?
