Game Changing Power Increase on 2015's?

According to this site, there's a power increase for the 2015 models over the 2013? I only thought the 2015's were supposed to be more efficient and get an additional 2mpg? Anyway, an extra .4hp isn't much, but it is a 3% gain...not too shabby. Obviously, the new bike having the bigger fuel tank adds an extra 6lbs when fully fueled, but anyway...has anyone noticed a difference in power/speed on their traveled routes between the two bikes?

I test rode them (2013 and 2015 in the US) both a long time before I bought the new 2013 for nearly $900 less. I didn't go more than 60 on each since they were new but any difference was not perceptible. Reports on here I thought indicated the 2015s were maybe set a bit lower on the rev limiter as far as top speed goes. My 2013 hits the rev limiter at 68 but I didn't test that until after 600 miles. Sounds like marketing to me. There are still a lot of black 2013s out there so they dealers with the 2015s need some way to get folks to spend more. ;)

No, I think the guide is wrong. 2013 150s were always listed as 13.5 HP. If they were now 13.9 then that would be something.

Perhaps more of a game changer than whether the 2015 PCX has a tiny bit more power is the potential arrival of this below.

"Yamaha claims an output of 14.8 hp at 7500 rpm"

Might be some stiff competition headed right at the PCX. I think they call it the Majesty S in non USA markets right now.

Cool - the Kymco 150cc is only about 10.3 HP on the Super 8.

but its such an ugly spud... I would step right through it to get to the PCX :o

Strange, I thought it looks quite like a PCX :) Only 94mpg quoted figure against 133 of PCX - real figures at speed will be interesting.

Honestly, I think it looks pretty similar. It will be interesting to see how it performs. Given how many people here change variators, etc, to gain a few mph, if the Yamaha's slight horsepower advantage produces a 5mph top speed advantage they might have a good seller on their hands.

It might have an Achilles' heel, though.

One of the reviews I watched on YouTube mentioned that in the reviewer's market at least, the Yamaha was more expensive than the PCX. If it was theoretically $500 more, so $4000 before fees, I think that would put a damper on sales in the near term. Why pay $4500 out the door with fees when you can snag a leftover '13 PCX for the $2600-2900 range out the door right now. That makes it 50% more expensive for a minor power difference.

When I was shopping for my bike this week, I found that there are a lot of leftover '13 PCX out there. Most every dealer I called within a large radius of my house has at least one 2013 left. Mostly black, a very few red. But plenty of them if you're not picky about color. Honda has $300-600 factory cash on them depending on where you live and how tight-fisted your dealer is. With winter coming on in the USA, I think the supply of '13s will be decent for a while into the future.

My father bought a PCX in central Pennsylvania this week. His dealer there was selling them for $2600 out the door, no other fees. Apparently they gained access to a large quantity of new leftover 2013 scoots from a Honda warehouse somewhere at a reduced price. As long as there is a big supply of leftovers still in the pipeline at this kind of pricing, it might be tough to sell a competitive unit for 2 grand more out the door.
