My father had a cushman when he was growing up. It was a lot older then this one.

nice looking retro scoot! we bought a 1957 NSU Prima D that looked a bit like the Cushman last year at auction. Guy a couple of hours north of us bought it along with a '73 Kawasaki that my husband rebuilt. He crammed both in the bed of his pick up and away he went! and, we even made a little money selling the bikes! I don't have the pics anymore or I would include them with this post.

I had Teen Neighbors when I was a kid that rode me on the backs of Their Cushman Eagles...Theirs were 1962 models.....Later when I owned a Motorcycle Junk Yard, I junked out a few and restored a 1958 model....at Today's prices, I wish I still had em'..... ;)

Wow, I didn't realize they were worth that much!

I rode with a really nice vintage Cushman in Florida at a rally earlier this year:

Might want to look at the handlebar manual too...
Seriously cool vintage scooter though, bit like a miniature Black Prince.

It has to be one of the best looking bikes I've ever seen. It's like something from the Jetsons

I think it's a Cushman Road King later than '57 judging by the number of cooling louvers.

When the '57 model had cooling problems, Cushman added louvers. They kept adding more over the next few years, which might mean they never did completely solve the problem. I'm sure there is a way to determine the model year by counting louvers.
Here's a good photo that shows in detail how the Cushman imitated the design of contemporary cars:

More of the same from an old newspaper ad:
http://www.ameshistoricalsociety.org/ex ... f_1007.htm
Mrs. Ellen Landon of 214 22nd Street was the winner of a Cushman Road King scooter in the Rushing’s Super Valu “Bonus Month” contest of 1958.
I have learned from my mistakes, and I am sure I can repeat them exactly.
