Signs of spring....
Wind chill in the 20's for my dark ride this morning...42 degrees, 22mph head wind, 40MPH on the speedo = Nippy.
Still, might be the best temps this week, so went for coffee and spotted these....
Bradley Cooper and Dave Chappell premiered "A Star is Born" in that little theater. Chappell has a home here. Then they went for coffee at Dino's.

Re: Signs of spring....
We can tell that it is Spring here by the yellow/green pollen. Ugh! It is everywhere! Even pictures turn out with a yellow/green tint. Attached is a picture of a house my wife and I have been discussing. (We have been house hunting since December. No, we don't need the ramp that is shown, so that is our sticking point, and probably why this house has not sold yet.) Look at the tinting. That is from the pollen in the air.

That is an enormous house. Too much upkeep for me. I want one level, 900 sq feet.

Re: Signs of spring....
Well, I think that house might be the one we get. We could use the ramp to move furniture in, and anything that is normally in the basement will end up temporarily in the garage. We only have one car, so we can take our time. We have multiple shelving units that we will set up in the spare, unfinished "storage" room. Then we could move the boxes from the garage to storage. Our biggest problem will be the lack of electrical outlets in the garage and storage room...and that ramp after we move in.
The real problem will be getting help during this time of social separation. Well, we will deal with that once we see how the buying process goes.

Good luck with your new digs search Mel.The real problem will be getting help during this time of social separation. Well, we will deal with that once we see how the buying process goes.
The one in the pic looks good to me . . ..
Closings take time depending upon financial arrangements, occupancy, and Title searches etc . . ..
Hopefully this virus curse will be out of our lives by Summer.
As they say "Hope for the best . . . prepare for the worst".
I'd leave the ramp in case you want to move your PCXs into the living quarters during the Winter. Didn't Fonzie do something like that with his Triumph? He'd be proud.

Many years ago our kids grew up and moved away from home. We downsized to a townhouse, but then we became active in dog rescue, so we needed a larger yard.you you wrote:Why are you moving?
We didn't want to get back into the responsibilities of home ownership again so we rented a house from a work associate, with an option to purchase it at the end of the lease if we wanted it. When the time came to make the decision the guy told us that he couldn't sell it to us because it was his only profitable property. We stayed just because it was a nice area and the rent was fair. He raised the rent a little bit over time but we felt at home here, so we stayed.
Then, at the beginning of this year our landlord told us that he was in financial distress, and that after checking the statistics for our area he had decided to raise our rent 31% on March 1st.
What?! For that kind of money we may as well buy a house again. (Georgia has no laws prohibiting it or restricting it, so he can do what he wants.) We had not only paid his house payment for him for 14 years, but we had done all of the maintenance. We have saved him thousands of dollars in repairs. Well, he will just have to see what he COULD end up with in this house. Most tenants do not maintain the place.
Good luck to him...and now this virus has made it tough to do a lot of things, including renting places.
We have been prequalified for financing on a new home for quite some time now, even on my retirement income, so everything is running smoothly for moving out of the rental and into the new house on time.
Long story made short, we are back in home ownership, and we are moving into our new home on May 15th.

Makes sense, at least you aren’t reliant on a landlord. I’d hate to be renting, my daughters have had some very dirty/shoddy tricks pulled on them by landlords.
Looks a lovely place tbh.

Re: Signs of spring....
Best of luck Mel - good decision. We too were into dog rescue for many years. We worked with the Rocky Mountain German Shepherd Rescue for some years. As we had 5 acres 30 miles east of Denver, in Colorado, we had plenty of room for fosters.
We always had four dogs of our own but as we have grow older and retired to Florida we now only have the two you see in the new avatar I changed to. Hope the process of sale goes smoothly and that you have a relatively easy time with the move.

Re: Signs of spring....
The thing about paying rent is you end up with a bunch of receipts for all those years of payments.
At least by owning you have something to show for it.
Even if the economy tanks and you have title to the property you have something.
Money and stocks are just paper based on trust.
Some call it a "House of Cards".
Better to have a "House that's Yours!".
Congratulations Mel to you and your Wife.

Re: Signs of spring....
We are down to only 2 dogs of our own, but once we move to our new home we may acquire another one. We just heard from one of our rescues that there is a JRT whose "parents" died recently, leaving him homeless. One of the grandchildren has the dog temporarily but can not keep the dog permanently, so we have let them know that after our move we will consider either fostering him or keeping him.
Our contractor can not build a fence until we close on the house, so we can't take him until then. Too bad we can't take the fence we built around this rental house. A half acre of fencing is a lot, and we didn't even get a Thank You from the owner. Oh well, it kept our dogs safe.
