Well...congratulate me...

Post by JustPassinThru »

I have two where one would do.

I came across a smoking deal on a near-new 2013 PCX 150...so...the old rider's reflex...hand-to-wallet...

$1300. I was looking at $500 in maintenance on my 125; and I can, of course, sell the 125. So...this gives me a little oomph increase.

This model, the 2013, is, on chassis, identical to the 125. Which IMHO is not a bad thing.

What is a bad thing is that top speed is nowhere near observed. Seems to top out at 58. There are issues; but the very first I had to address, was the overfilled crankcase. Took care of that, but tonight's not a good night for speed runs.

Get things sorted and ride!

I seldom go over 50 MPH on mine. It will snarl it's way to 60 MPH or so depending upon the wind conditions and the size of my last meal.

I don't know how many miles it has on it presently but I have found that as the bike gets more miles on it, especially road miles... vs city miles... It begins to open up more. It still has a 64 mph top end, but that can be increased with little effort.

There is another good thing about the 2013 model PCX 150. The Center Stand issue has been fixed.

Yet another good thing about it is that it is the fastest model. Honda started changing gearing after that, and eventually they lowered the cc's to 49cc's from 53cc's.

I don't see a location on your profile. Would you mind adding it, please?

How easily, and for how much, can one sell an ageing PCX which needs $500 maintenance ?

That's the $1,000,000 question.

I'm advertising it for $1400 on the List of Craig - one nibble and now lost.

Why that price? I want room to drop the price. Someone comes and offers me $1100, it's gonna be his.

On the udder hand...if I don't sell...I don't sell. It doesn't take up much space.

Tires. That's $250, give or take.

Then, there's the question of checking/setting valves. That's another $250, at $90/hour shop rates.

Then, there's the reality that the sliders/belt/variator is going to need service. To someone with a workshop, no problem. For me, without...mucho dinero.

If you want to sell it at $1,100 why not put it up at that and keep it firm?

People love to get "bargains." Love to be able to tell their friends how they "joo'd him down" and got it SO much lower.

Like you, I like a firm, straightforward price. We're in a minority on this. Everyone wants to prove, to themselves at least, how they can make "Really great DEALS."

Not only do people like to get a bargain they like to buy a used vehicle that's been fully maintained and is ready to go and won't need time/money spending on it for a while.

Given that you recently paid $1500 for a newer one you have a neck of solid brass asking $1100 for your old junker.

Get it listed for $1000 and take $750 with a smile.

I'm with gn2... heck I'd give you $750 for it right now if I could figure out how to get it to Colorado.

2011 is "old"?

Needing tires is a "junker?"

Let's get real, here...

Yes, for a 125 PCX 2011 is definitely old.
There have been three major revamps since and the original model is the only one which should be avoided due to the stand lug design fault.
Junker was based on your original information about the amount of repairs it needed.

Add a couple hundred, and I might be persuaded to deliver it.

I figure, three nights in motels, on the way there...that's assuming the roads are open. It's sopping wet and cold, in the Five Valleys area of Montana. I understand Colorado is on fire.
