Re: PCX Vario cover corrosion?

So you think the cover could be salvaged? Clearly I haven’t done any more than look at it but it does look kind of bubbly. Will I need a new gasket or can I re-use the old one? Does the gasket go on dry, or with a bit of grease or oil? Very definitely can be sorted its just cosmetic. Gasket can be ...

Re: PCX Vario cover corrosion?

We have similar problems with salt air and blowing sand here in the Western part of San Francisco. Some folks will have the part media blasted and then powder coated. Don't know if it would be worth the money, but it works. That’s good to hear. As you say, I think the cost of powder coating would b...

Re: PCX Vario cover corrosion?

Get the cover off, buff it down and paint. To stop recurrence, clean it with an oily rag rather than soap and water. Thanks for the heads up about using gloves. So you think the cover could be salvaged? Clearly I haven’t done any more than look at it but it does look kind of bubbly. Will I need a n...

you you wrote:It’s because you hardly use the bike and when you do you put it away wet into a damp garage. Throw in a bit of salt and Bob is your uncle.

You know I’m not being literal about Bob being your uncle don’t you?
Of course. No Uncle Bob’s in my family. Played cricket with a Bob, once, though.

Re: PCX Vario cover corrosion?

Salt roads. Well, living by the sea, I guess that would do it. From the look of things it would probably be more sensible to replace the vario cover and be more vigilant in future. Because of the location I didn’t notice it that much. ACF50 is a new one on me, or it was ‘til I looked it up, but then...

Re: PCX Vario cover corrosion?

Something you pick up on your normal route? Here’s what I would do: Replace part and gasket Tape the rear off and put 3 coats of clear plastidip on, instead of paint protection film. OK. Thanks for your comments. From what I can see online and in the PCX manual, it just a matter of removing the scr...

PCX Vario cover corrosion?

There is some kind of corrosion to the back end of the Vario Cover of my 2013 PCX. Any ideas on what has caused it - plain old rainwater? Is it quite common? My bike has been garaged each night in the 5 years I have had it with annual short commuter mileage under 1000 miles. But it can be a tad rain...

Re: Different regional color codes, but same color?

I did look on the “How To” section, using all manner of search terms, but I couldn’t find this. I did find a video endorsed by other on the site but it didn’t give me the confidence I needed. So thanks for this link. I will review it more closely later. Just a quick update: A truly awesome dismantl...

Re: How-To: Completely Dismantle A PCX

Just want to add my thanks to Maddiedog for the excellent dismantling guide. Clear, simple step-by-step instructions with fantastic, clear pictures to illustrate. I just don’t know how I missed it, having searched several times in the How To section using all manner of terms. Thanks to Mel46 for poi...

Re: Different regional color codes, but same color?

Fair point. I understand your logic. I look at it from the opposite viewpoint, making it look like the black panels are a deliberate choice rather than attempting to conceal a different colour panel. I think a couple of stickers should look nice and will break up an otherwise bland black panel. Like...

Re: Different regional color codes, but same color?

Funny you should mention changing all the panels. Being unable to match my Pearl Siena Red led me to consider importing a whole new colour, like a Pearl White. Various vendors based in Asia, thereby having the option to source new panels in the future should I have further damage - heaven forbid. A ...

Re: Different regional color codes, but same color?

My son did a couple of mock ups so I could see what it would look like with black belly panels, which avoids a colour match issue. With shipping (think it might be on the back of a donkey!) I can get left and right for just over £70, with VAT and duty on top. I will likely have a go at touch up with...

Re: Different regional color codes, but same color?

The side panel is quite minor so a touch up kit might work there. They are the three stage nail varnish type pots, right? Will they fill the little pit holes of the scratch, or just make them harder to spot? Maybe there is a sticker kit that would hide them?

Re: Different regional color codes, but same color?

If I replaced the two scratched belly panels on my UK PCX 125 (320 P - Pearl Siena Red) with imported panels (only available in 340C - Candy Red), would the difference be noticeable? Without looking directly at parts in both colours, side by side, I have no way of knowing apart from what people say....

Turns out Xmax not as powerful as i had thought. Kawasaki J300 29 bhp 4000 mile service interval, underpinnings by Kymco, screw and locknut valve clearance adjusters, very easy to service Yamaha Xmax 300 28 bhp 6000 mile service interval, shims, check due every 12,000 miles Honda Forza 300 25 bhp 8...

WhiteNoise: Correct me if I’m wrong but it sounds to me like you think I should get my new scooter..? You might have a bit of a wait for pictures, though. Re: New Forza 300 vs PCX 125

Ok, thanks. Quite a difference when you put it that way. I think my Bandits used to be 111bhp..?..compared to just under 30bhp for the Forza 300, although I am not expecting or wanting that speed, now. Older and wiser than I was 20 years ago and I like the ease of riding a scooter. Xmax I assume is ...
