Re: First Part to Rattle Loose While Riding
Kids nicked it? That's along the lines I'm thinking - someone took it. foggyhelmet - are you sure it came off mid-rid and was not missing one time before you set off? Can't be sure of anything as there were no signs anything was askew until midnight. No sounds, operational discomfort, smoke.....not...

Re: First Part to Rattle Loose While Riding
I replaced everything exactly the way I found it when I did a basic oil change. I will not rule out my own novice skill, but I took great care.......that being said, it wasn't exactly part of the daily inspection routine. :geek: Always possible vandalism, and can't watch it 24/7. If I know when some...

First Part to Rattle Loose While Riding
:? Well, I was thinking nuts and bolts might be a worry to rattle off in traffic..... Last night the oil dipstick disappeared altogether! Must have just kept working itself loose. It was tightly fastened coming out of the oil change. Seems to me the worst possible non-wheel thing that is positioned ...

Re: My build/mods thread: '15 PCX
Looks sharp. I like how you modded the footboards, they look way better than when they came in. A word of caution with the dipstick, I tried an aftermarket one and the center portion that you actually read the oil off of eventually rattled loose. I was very fortunate to notice it was loose before i...

Re: Warped Router/Bearings
What do the bearings specifically do for the front wheel of a PCX? :ugeek: GN2 hit the question from the opposite side,it is good to check all four aspects as he suggests, and there is a small tolerance for some light warping. If I had my new service manual I'd tell you what it is, but it's still o...

Re: Warped Router/Bearings
You need to check the wheel bearings because worn bearings can warp the rotor. But a warped rotor does not always mean worn bearings, they can warp from excessive heat caused by sticky caliper disease. The rotor may not actually be warped at all, there is a certain permissible run-out which someone...

Re: Seat won't latch
I can probably karate chop through 10 PCX seats by now. :? Yes, just use the same technique on the PCX seat and it will close. It will even behave for a few more closings after you direct your force through it. Also, I notice when it is wet it latches immediately. All about force and lube. More lube...

Unexpected Weather Stories
 I suppose we could all claim genius status on avoiding bad weather events, but just for some light conversation I was wondering if anyone had any stories where you were caught outdoors far away from proper shelter or home, and the weather was just not even close to what was being reported. Mud...

Re: PCX won't start in cold
I'll keep in mind pricing out a new battery just in case. Started fine this morning and it was even colder, but dryer. The mini-blizzard Tuesday came in sideways, melted completely, then refroze, then snowed again Wednesday, then dried overnight. I'd love to have a garage to work on it, but I'm run ...

Re: Riding year-long and can't imagine it being the other wa
I ride year-round, but in winter only if: -No precipitation falling or less than a 40% chance of precipitation that day -No ice on roads -Temp over 40 degrees F -Daughter doesn't need a ride to school Otherwise, I'm luxuriating with heated seats in my car. Had a time when a motorcycle was my only t...

Re: Riding year-long and can't imagine it being the other wa
:ugeek: Intended to ride it all year long, but Colorado usually has other plans. High winds, hail, wintry mixes worse than snow, snow, ice, California drivers, sideways snow, California drivers......list goes on. The weather events basically pose a challenge in that to mentally get over the delay I ...

Warped Router/Bearings
There is an extremely microscopic warping on the front rotor. On decel, you can hear a single gentle 'clunk' every rotation. Hasn't affected performance or gas mileage. That being said, we clearly don't want to have it metastasize this Summer. How would a gently warped rotor damage ball bearings in ...

Re: PCX won't start in cold
Happened this morning to me. Battery fine. No prior startup issues.
The 'wintry mix' is the variable. Snow got on the bike, then melted, then refroze this morning.
Any idea what I should spray ice melter on first? My guess is the sideways winds pushed the moisture somewhere it doesn't usually go.

Snow Goggles!
:ugeek: Need some input from any of you who ride all year round and face visor or goggle fogginess that will then refreeze immediately. What I am looking for is a pair of goggles I can wear under my helmet that are: 1) Dust resistant 2) Fog resistant 3) Effective at temperatures down to 0 degrees Wh...

Michelin City-Grip Tires
So I've been riding on these Michelin tires for about 7-8 months now. Traction great, drives great, corners well. Most everything is fine. When I ride on grooved or ridged roads, the front Michelin has this tendency to snake. There is no performance problem, but as I try to keep a good feel for the ...

Disconnecting the side stand from the Auto-Shutoff
I've decided I don't much care for the auto-shutoff that is linked with the kickstand.
How do I disable the auto-shutoff?

Leather vs. Plastic saddlebags
So I love my choice of leather. Gives the bike a much more authentic look and feel. The bags get misshapen usually when I am in a hurry and don't bother to take advantage of hotter weather and re-form them. Cold comes in often and then freezes the out of shape bags. Anyone run into a similar situati...

Left Brake loosey goosey
So, lately, within the past couple of months, my left CBS brake feels a bit loose. The right brake feels tighter. To my understanding there is supposed to be an adjuster under the left rear of the bike -though I am wondering how it gets loose and tight on its own in the first place since I have neve...

Just the wires remain
:ugeek: What kind of options do I have to maybe even put a better custom signal in with just the wires left? I am not electrically inclined, so I am trying to imagine 1) A turn signal that does not jut out into my saddlebags 2) Maybe even go bigger! I know we're talking the mighty mouse we know as t...
