There are lots of photos out there - as an old medic these few come to mind at this time of year.

There was a good showing at the Naval Ritual "Wreath-Laying" ceremony down by the CT River in my town this morning.

When the High School band played the "Naval Hymn" they did a really good job!

To sum it up it was a very respectful Memorial to the Vets . . ..

With all these sales and Memorial Day specials, I have to wonder how many young people even understand or care what this day is suppose to be all about. How many of these people have people currently serving? The numbers are getting smaller, and so are people's memories.

As an example of that, we have 3 grandsons who are currently serving (one flies Apache Helos and just returned from Afghanistan), and we are very proud of them. Yet one of our sons who joined the Marine Reserves out of high school (and made all of his rank "counting bullets" stateside) considers himself a "Real Marine", and he doesn't even think about others who were not in the Marines, as though others who served and died were not real soldiers. I doubt that he could handle the stress we and our fellow soldiers have been under, or are under now. This is a new generation, I guess.

Thanks for sharing.
Those kids were close to the age of the young man above.
