Which Honda Would You Rather Have?

If both of these bikes were part of the 2018 Honda line up . . . and were both the same price. . . which one would you prefer?

This one . . . if it was cranked out on the production line today as a 2018 just as you see it here including the kick start.

Or, this one . . . that is actually produced today for a whole different market (technologically speaking) and in a whole different world.

FWIW, If it were me I'd take the Honda 305 Superhawk hands down!!! . . .. 8)

Cb300F single, modern but single?

305 twin, much better but styling not for me though..

with that said, I'll take the CB300F if i have to choose bet the two..

Ohhh, I'd love a 305, would prefer the scrambler. But roadster or scrambler - am I right in thinking they've both really become "in demand" lately ?

The 305 is nice. I rode one once upon a time, or one very similar to it. However, I never liked the seat styling. I had a Friend who had his modified by making a dip in the seat where he would sit, and widening the passenger area about an inch on both sides... and then he put a Sissy bar on the back.

I did something similar to one of my 350s.

I would take the CB300F, those silver rims on the 305 would been heck of hard to keep clean looking especially the back rim. That chain wax flies EVERYWHERE even if its labeled no fling wax.
I use to ride a CBR250R and enjoyed the heck out of that machine. I have thought of getting a used CBR300R but they don't show up on CL often.

Make sure the recall work has been accomplished on the crank if it's an earlier one . . .. ;)

There were a lot of Honda 305's around campus when I was in college. The new 350's were selling well also. I still remember that bright yellowish gold color. I did get a chance to ride one a few times. :D

At that time the school of thought in my college motorcycle club about sissy bars was that if you had a "get off" it would be better to slide off the back of a bike without any hindrance such as a "sissy bar". Having a backrest or sissy bar could give you injury if hit from behind or you could get your leg hung up and be dragged along with the bike. Highway bars were frowned upon also. They would protect the bike but it was something else to get tangled up with if you had a get off. Basically the mindset was to keep the bikes simple and clean. :geek:

That said I do have a top box and have used it on several of my bikes over the years. However, I've given it a healthy dose of reflective stickers and hope it increases my "presence" on the road during the day and visibility and night. . .especially on the scooter. :D

That new Super Cub 125 is sure a blast from the past . . . only more high tech! :D

I remember the yellow/gold color. I had a CL350 scrambler and a CB350. They were great little bikes. I would not hesitant to use them for long rides. They could handle it.

Oh, and I did have highway bars on the CB, along with a sissy bar. I would ride that bike hundreds of miles on a freeway and not worry...until the electrical system shorted out one night while on the road. That was a long night.

I would hope that the motorcycle industry might continue to capture some of smaller cc designs like they just did with the super cub and update them with new technology. Or Much like triumph has done on the Bonneville; the bike looks like an air cooled bike with carburetors, yet its water cooled with fuel injection. I don't see any problem in making the 305 scrambler up to date yet have the same looks, much like the Kawasaki 900 retro looks very close to original 900 z-1.....

I agree. Capture some of the charm and innocence of the older bikes.

I'll have a H1A please

For some reason the newer style bikes have a Robo Cop look. The older ones seemed more a tuned to my childhood and I wasn't much into cops or robots back then.
