Battery

Hello,
Does anyone know what sort of output the battery can manage as I am thinking of adding some additional lights for occasional use and need to work out of the battery will be able to manage the extra output or if I would have to try and work out an additional power source for them?

u can check your battery with a voltmeter device (if u have)..

when your ignition off , all systems off , battery must give you at least 12volt.. (at least!!!) below 12 mean is your battery getting empty or life time has started to complete.

your ignition is on but engine off at least 11.6v you must get..no matter lights on or off..at least must be 11.6

your engine is on , lights on or off no matter at least 12v must get..

you are giving half throttle it must increase to 13v.

now, you wanna add some lights..all this numbers that i typed, you must check every step of you apply the lights..if you added lights and this numbers still same , it's mean your alternator is enough for charge to the battery and lights same time. if it's getting below of those numbers sorry but you must remove lights . because electric system will try to handle with less power..even your spark plug will get less electric, gasoline will get less explosion and less horspower..example : same as air condition system at cars..

also battery life about you can read your battery situation ..

Check Motobatt. That's the one I use , and is made for accessories and additional loads. From their website...

Many claims are made by different manufacturers about cranking capacity in fact there is little to be gained from a battery that cranks harder than what is required to start your bike. In battery design there is always a tradeoff. Since physical battery size is limited by the application / case size, the more cranking power (increased number of thinner plates) you have, the less Amp Hour capacity you get, and vice versa. The key is to 'balance" the design to offer maximum AH and CCA's to properly power all of your 'thirsty' OE and aftermarket accessories.

I added LED lights and they had no effect on the output, as long as the engine was running when I turned them on or I connected them to the ignition circuit.

I do have some that are directly connected to the battery, but I only turn those on while riding. They are connected directly so that I can use them in emergency situations, such as if I blew a main fuse while on the road and needed lights to get me to safety.

Agreed, add LED's and you have no problem with battery pull/stress

I am planning to add 1 light at the front and 1 at the rear. Each uses 9W.
