Centre Stand

Hi everyone

I know the centre stand has been covered before but I cannot find any other topic relating to my centre stand problem. Its been fine up until last week and now it isn't retracting fully up under the bike despite me oiling it with ACF50 for the last couple of days, been used frequently back and forth to work and only done 1500 miles, it's going into dealers for a service and MOT next week so will have them look at it. Any thoughts out there from anyone, need to get it sorted as selling it soon.

Cheers the noo
Willie

It sounds to me like the spring needs to be replaced. Clean up the rust and crud that may have built up under there, and then change the spring. Hopefully that should do it.

Its absolutely not the spring.
The stand rotates around the pivot pin and there is zero provision for lubrication.
Once corrosion builds up the stand becomes reluctant to retract.
All you need to do is extract the pin, clean it up, grease it and put it back.
Its an easy enough job to do yourself: http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=1344

 ...and this advice comes from a guy who doesn't know that RED is the correct color.

Really though, I would heed his words. He has been handling the problems brought on by rainy weather for quite some time. He knows what he is talking about. There have been some unique problems on his side of the pond that most of us on this side have not had to deal with.

The correct colour for a PCX is white though.
