PCX performs admirally!

I mentioned in a previous post I would be riding the new PCX to the Smokey Mtn region right on down the Blue Ridge Parkway,

I did it! Seven days and six nights camping every night. I had a good size load packed. The PCX performed perfectly. I am really pleased with the addition of the larger tires front & rear. The bike cornered really great! Smoked the Harleys. Rode to the top of Mt Mitchell, rode the Tail of the Dragon, Charoharo Skyway, Cherokee, NC, into TN, Bush's Bean Restaurant & Gift Shop, 1500 miles in all from Culpepper, VA and back.

Camped all but one night on top on the Blue Ridge Parkway, one night on Lake Fontana in a National Forest. Two events occurred which have never happened on one of my adventure trips.
--I was, well the entire campground, buzzed by a fighter jet at 915p. It came so low it was actually below the tree line along the side of the mountain. I was on the BRP. All I saw were wing lights and the glow from the jet engine. I smelled the jet fuel. It came with 150 yards and was lower than the trees. Unbelievable! Frankly scared the wits out of me....it was loud!
--A coyote was went outside my tent howling in the Nat Forest on lake Fontana. He was so loud....had to be 25 yards.

I rode many adventure trips on my Vee Strom but to do it on a 150cc scooter was more of a challenge while yet very refreshing. I enjoyed it!

Looks like an awesome trip.

Glad to hear the wider tires helped you smoked the HD's.

Beautiful photos. Thanks

Great ride. How did it handle going up Mt Mitchell? Any bogging, stressing, issues climbing to the top.

Ah yes. . .refreshing indeed!

I did some of the Blue Ridge Parkway in a brand new Honda Civic DX in the late 1990's on my way back from visiting my "In-laws" in GA some years ago. Went through Asheville, NC as well. Took pics. . .know what you mean about the valleys and trees. I'm glad we've got that jet pilot on "our side". ;)

That is quite a ride. When we were more active we rode ours on a 5 state ride in one day, just to see if we could. Luckily we live somewhat close to those states, but it is still quite a ride. The pcx has no problem doing those types of runs, but our butts and backs are a different story. By the time we arrived back at our home we were quite numb on our butts. That is one reason that I went to Walmart and purchased a gel seat cushion, and I built up a back rest out of packing foam. Now the ride is much more comfortable.

The mighty PCX struggled a little on all of the hills but she gets into a rhythm and runs at about 40mph on the steep hills at full throttle. Keep in mind I had a load of gear.

Great ride! I'm envious! I was just down there a few weeks ago with the family in the Accord. Wished I was on my scooter instead.

Some of those hills I found were 2nd gear hills, even 1st in places, so you're doing fine to take them at 40 mph.
