I want to transport my PCX 150 from Wisconsin to Florida for 1-2 months next winter and want ideas of getting it there. It won't fit in my SUV on its side, I measured.

Transport companies are a possibility. It would be about $500 each way

A trailer behind my SUV is possible. I would have to put a hitch on the SUV and I have never driven with a trailer (from UHaul?).

I can't drive it down. It won't hold one months worth of stuff.

Any ideas?

However you transport, trailer, pickup, cargo van, uhaul you will want a Canyon Dancer for the PCX. These insure she is secure and upright without damage to plastics. An 18" will fit nicely with some ratchet straps to finish the tie down. A great thing that keeps the load on the bar-ends where it belongs.

Get a carrier ..Mounts or slides into your existing receiver hitch. I have used many times and works great see pic

Not sure if this is the one I have but looks similar.. Make sure you get one that can handle 200 lbs minimum..

Why not leave it behind, do without, or hire or borrow a bike when you are there?

Get a 2" receiver hitch put on, and you will have many options at many price points. My absolute favorite is

I like the idea of just rolling the scoot on and having it tilt into place. It is, however, the priciest of my finds.

The other approach has a fixed bed and a detachable ramp to push the scoot up. The assembly can be aluminum (pricier but light) or steel (heavy, but more reasonably priced). I also was looking for something that would handle the Forza as well as the PCX. I would like to take the Forza someplace and then go for a ride, and so avoid an hour or two of highway riding to get to a new destination. Also, having the carrying capability would be nice in the event of a breakdown, or if I had to bring the scoot to a shop. As I get older and feebler, the lighter weight units are looking better and better.

However, If I had the room in my small 1 car garage I'd own a Kendon fold up trailer (single carrier) in a pinch. Pricey? Yes, but to me the Best of it's kind (as is the Versa Haul in its class).

You might want to check Craigslist on a weekly basis. Very often you'll find listings for trailers, hitch carriers, Kendon and others. You can snag a good deal now and then as these items take up space.

Two months is a long time. Are you a snowbird? If so, just buy another scooter for FL. If not, maybe just buy a used scooter when you're down there. Or look into long term rental? They've GOT to have something like that for snowbirds.

If there were a permanent place to store it you could buy a used one down there for around $2,000 and just store it there for when you come down.
Otherwise, get a 2" receiver put on your vehicle and you will have lots of choices. Ask the local U-Haul what they could recommend. I know they can and do install trailer hitches.
For me, those rear carriers would work if you only have one pcx. For 2 of them, u-haul has trailers.

OK, so I have decided to get a trailer hitch and mount the bike on a carrier. Where do people attach the tie down straps on the BACK of the bike. I know about the Canyon Dancers on the front.

Get a hitch. Then get one of these. You should be able to tie the bike on using the tray in the back. I am sure you can figure it out, or get some help. Just get enough ties and ratchet it tight and you will be ready to go. I have a brake lock on my handlebar that will keep the wheels locked in place. Once you think it is secure, try to move it. If it moves at all, it isn't tight enough.

OK, picked up the trailer hitch rack and will learn how to get the bike on and off the rack. Has anyone got the bike up the trailer hitch rack with the engine running and a bit of throttle?

Or, I was thinking of just arriving at my destination and asking for help from someone passing by?
