Since the new 2018 PCX models come in he same colors as the 2017 models, how can you be sure you're getting a 2018 model when buying from a dealer?

You have to look at the VIN numbers. . .I think it was mentioned in this article http://www.ehow.com/how_5776052_decode- ... cycle.html
that the "10th" digit represented the year. You'll notice on step "7" that the year is designated with a number 1. If you look at the top of the label it has 11/00 marked. So it's a 2001 model made in November of 2000.

When I look at the PCX's I plan to make note of it.

Not sure about the "Yellow Submarine". . .

You can't.
All they do is change the VIN, the rest stays exactly the same.
No point worrying about what year is what, because it makes absolutely no difference whatsoever.
Just get whatever is cheapest where you are.

As far as design you're right. . .The 2018 PCXs are supposed to be the same design as the 2017s. White and blue again too. . ..

Getting a deal on a "leftover" can save some serious coin.

But sometimes quality issues can be addressed. Smash to fit. . .grind to match. . .you know.

Any such bugs have mostly been sorted a long time ago.
Any that remain will not be getting sorted.

Outboard engines do not sell by year anymore. They do indicate a date of manufacture only on the placard. All years are the same with the exception of modified parts if utilized in which case a date of manufacture helps the owner get the latest part .

Yup. . .and sometimes they just take a basic platform like for a 15HP outboard and change a few mechanical or electrical parts and abracadabra you have an 18HP motor.

I'll let you know when I visit the dealership. I've communicated with their sales department over the internet. Although I've been there on and off over the years. . .just don't want to get into a session right now until I'm going to actually buy.

I'm thinking no. . .if you mean smart key? But maybe the 2018 will. Just don't know. . .but will. The thing is I'm not seeing any mention of it on the U.S. site for it as an "Innovation".

For me, just need a regular key. . .nothing fancy.

Just thought If the '17 did not come with the new smart key, then that's one way to tell them apart - pretty sure both years will have the new key arrangement.
