Dear all as promised here are a few pics taken this morning from my Pcx on my way to the office....unfortunately not really a great day... foggy and cold -3°C I ll check this afternoon on my return to home if weather would be nicer.... as you can see I do not live exactly in Lausanne but at 13 Km away from the city in a small village of 200 inhabitants still bordering the lake....

yes you are correct that is pretty much the landscape in my area... consider in the village there are 26 winemakers out of the roughly 200 inhabitants... without anything also beside that...

Beautiful, picturesque place. It doesn't appear that you will be smooshed by a texting soccer mom in her assault SUV. Looks like a stunning place to ride. Thanks for the peek at your corner of the world.

Man that's an amazing place to see. Thanks for that! Makes one wonder how a person makes a living and where does the little woman find a mall. I would love to escape the comfortable economic insulation of the city but would probably become a beggar sitting in that alley (main street). Sure looking forward to seeing seasonal updates and please get the Precious PCX in the picture now and then and you'll have some of the most simulating scooter backdrops in this forum.

Hi sure I will provide seasonal updates... this would be something "interesting" about this place not really that much shopping can take place... consider here shops shut down normally at 6pm on regular week days,.. on sat at 5pm being completally closed on Sunday... week end is meant for family and relax...

Ok, there will be no whinning over spilled wine... :-)
Beautiful ride through peaceful countryside. What a way to start your day. No wall to wall cars, honking horns and shaking fists. No idiots trying to drive on the shoulder of the road in order to get ahead of everyone else, and no wall of semi-trucks blocking your view for miles on end.
Ohhhh, I want to live there.

No sirens, gun shots, bill board advertisements, terrorist, wait terrorist o_O Um.. where did I read Switzerland has a robust and recent immigration influx ;) Going to need some malls before my woman will let me move over.

Just think about how nice could be living in a society where is not everything about shopping... at first back 2 years ago when we arrived from England seemed quite strange for us being used to do whatever we wanted whenever we wanted... but then after a few months little by little you start to get used to it and there after you start to appreciate it providing you learn how could nicely spend your time on other things..you are all right here there is nothing of all of what you are describing ..about immigration not sure about that, there was a vote 2 years ago to make it even more tight, this year was even formally dropped the EU entrance...

Your Roadways appear to be like Sidewalks
Oh my gauss :P I would so cherish a (large) piece of that lifestyle right about now.
Breathtaking countryside(s) so Serene that one can probably hear their own heart beat.
It must be wonderful to actually "Ride" where you live...Yes, I mean "Ride" 8) I'm not ashamed to admit, I...Am...Jealous.
Can you bottle a bit and send some my way? It's holiday time afterall. Lottery Won!

Here on Long Island where I live, we have corner to corner Stop Signs/Yield Signs, always slowing us down if not...then they are traffic lights. Everywhere! Constant stop/start. We are bumper to bumper on four wheels riding each other's (pardon me), asses! Cars, vans, trucks. All sizes. We also have More than our share of strip malls (those are a group of side-by-side connected stores along the roadways). We also have several mothership malls (acres of stores side-by-side under one roof (or more).
Petrol stations are everywhere (but of course! to accomodate our abundance of vehicles).
Then we have "speed bumps" in succession, some at distances of only 200-300' apart - just to slow us down. Again!

You may be wondering....How do we get up to speed on our wee 2 wheelers then?
Hmm, good question.
Answer is: we take our lives in our hands and throttle onto highways, expressways, turnpikes and parkways where 18 wheelers fly and push you aside OR...you can follow there lead and get sucked along (those reading, do not do this! Stay Clear away!) Riding at 60mph on those roadways among driver's going 70-80mph well, that's just plum SCRAZY o_O
PCX is a Towner scoot not Big Timer scoot. Me? I Like Your Town(s) :D

Tell me gauss....is texting on one's cellphone a problem in your Beautiful world? We have many accidents on our roadways (even on sidewalks) due to Cellphone activity. It's more than a BIG Problem, it's out of control.

Next ride, Look in your mirror, I will be invisible but tailgating you!
See you next photo shoot. "You" lucky man "You!"
Ride On :P

Considering what you are describing and after having been several years near London I must admit to be lucky... to be sincere I do not think I would ever consider another relocation I might rather change job [SMILING FACE WITH OPEN MOUTH].. I could not even picture the driving conditions that you are describing..
here cannot be congested is almost impossible to have new constructions in the area being this particular location a world heritage site..it took back 2 years ago to me 6 months to find an accomodation.

Today I understood how come for some of us is important to have modifications on our little scoot to boost the performances.. it was something that until now I did not even think about..

more pics will come..tks a lot to all of you for the nice welcoming I am receiving in becoming part of this community...

Unlike Bangkok, where sidewalks appear to be roadways. ;)

My wife and I are always wishing we could live in a place that is quite like yours. Unfortunately, the reality is that when you have leukemia you have to be near big hospitals. To add to that, after 6 back surgeries I have to be near a pain specialist, which is near a big hospital. So, essentially, I have to live close enough to a large medical facility that it wouldn't take me long to get there. That is a real 'downer' for me because I would prefer to live in a small village like in those pictures.
By the way, how do two cars pass each other on those small roads??

What about that? Too far to walk, not suitable for autos, trucks or even horse drawn carts o_O I don't get it. Somebody didn't make though...

? Its a white cross. Doesn't automatically mean a pile up. Christians kind of use it. And have you seen the Swiss flag?

You were being ironic?
