Heh Tip! That's a nice pic and it does look friggin' cold. What hour is this, 5-6am? Is that salt on the asphalt I see?
Ohh, that's right ya'll had some White stuff when we had a dusting last week. Don't cha just love it?
Hel-lo Winter :x

Honestly, I know I woud ride more in Cold months if there were no sand and/or salt to contend with. Thrown into that mix are looney driver's (many on their cellphone's) in bundles of traffic. That's life on the Long Island. Crazy. Sunday's are my fav day to ride, we then have reasonable traffic to deal with.

Itsa game. We ride, they drive. They weave, We weave. When we return home safe...We Won. They missed Us! Noooo.......we missed Them!
Woot!

Hey buddy, The picture was taken at about 5:15 in the morning. 34° and damp out. No, that isn't salt, just worn asphalt. I have about a 12 mile commute to work.

We haven't had any snow yet. Actually, it has been real nice winter, (I hate that word) so far. Any day I can ride, is a great day! :D

Cheers

Thanks Daguang! Yes, I see it's 28°F in Beijing right now. Quite a bit cooler than Chicago. ;)

As long as it's dry, the cold isn't that big a deal. Any ice or snow and salt, then I drive my Tacoma. 8)

I guess, I am a morning person. Last summer, I would commute to work by bicycle. I start at 0430, so I would leave the house by 0300. :ugeek: I am lucky we have showers at work. We had a real warm and humid summer.

I guess you gotta do what you gotta do to stay warm on those cold rides. But is it high viz? If not, you are risking not being seen unless it is by a sharp eye like Homie and his infra-red camera.

That does look cold...sitting out there in that cold lot.
I commuted on my scooters year round in Ohio if clear roads, all temps. (+3°F one morning) At 5:30am.
For 3 yrs boss let me park it out of the way in a heated warehouse. ..then new boss went to the new director....and my pristine, non leaking, scooters were banished to the dark parking lot in a sketchy neighborhood.
Just the 1st indication of his Nazi supervisory technique.(ridicule & threats, etc.)
Not long after I told him I needed 5gal more paint..."Oh, and I just phoned personnel with my 2 weeks notice". After 30 yrs, and one too many - I no longer suffered fools....
Well past full retirement & S.S. age. Riding my scooters.

Yep, sounds all too familiar. Last year we were banned from parking in the parking garage. We only parked there on weekends and the garage is empty then. No reason was ever given by upper management, and the garage sits empty on the weekends now.

I will try to explain my username. My name is Tom, I am short in stature. I used to ride/race motocross. MX bikes are very tall, lots of suspension. I would usually find a way to wipe out/tipover in front of my buddies on the trails. Sometimes on purpose. Then I would get up and pass them all over again. I raced motocross, supercross and hare scrambles for a few years.
Hence my nickname Tommy Tipover.

I know what being short is all about.
In class photos of my elementary days where the tallest were in the middle and the shortest on the outer edge with the shortest by the teacher usually with their arm over your shoulder that was me.
That tipover stunt shows how resourceful us short people can be.
