do the front brake pads have rivits in them?

They'll be bonded. It's brake shoes that can be riveted.

I'm pretty sure ive replaced front brake pads with rivits and saw groves in brakes roters from letting the pads getting to low and the rivets aite into the pads but maybe my memeory is off

May be. I'm sure I've never seen it. Even on my 60s cars with discs the pads were bonded.
