Took a ride to the Villages , Florida today. There are several themed communities in this large area of residential homes. This is the one they call Lake Sumter landing.

I will check this out later. Re: the Villages: I used to know some people who would go thee for the cold season. One of them liked it so much she later bought a place there. It was considered Mecca for ancient singles. You could always pick something up--old boy or old girl and you could be fairly certain that they were affluent, at least to some degree, and wouldn't corner you in a back alley.

I have a few friends that live/lived in the various villages of the Villages. My sis lived there for a few years. I almost moved there from my home on Florida's west coast.
I sold my '88 Cougar to a collector from Michigan. We met each other in The Villages. My neighbor here in NY moved there as well. My neighbor in Florida built a home there and spent his remaining years there. Always telling me to do the same.

Kind on the fence when it comes to hanging out with older people only. Spent the last couple days with a childhood friend who is an excellent welder fabricator who was doing some work on my gravel truck-we understand each other and the friendship is very comfortable. But interacting with the different generations keeps both of us on our toes and learning - not to much on our skills- but more on how to overcome our comfort zone and enjoy the full spectrum.

Read someplace that somewhere in Africa they were having problems with a heard of elephants who were all juveniles
when some older ones were introduced they were OK. Might be the same the other way around?

Yes The Villages is 55+ community that is immaculate in every way. That was just a snippit of the town square , but there are several more Disney like themed communities around. There are roads just designed for the carts and they even have tunnels that go under certain roads to accommodate their travel. They are everywhere but beware there can be some spunky drivers around, but most are extremely courteous. Around 5 PM there is a concert every night with a different band each day playing mostly 70-80 music. There are outside bars and they will get packed with party goers and the players both man and woman. Remember the bar scene in your 20's..?? same thing in this place only every day ..LOL. Its a good time..thought I would share it with some in those in their sunset years on here.
I do have to change my drive belt ..lots of shuddering on take off and there is a lot of stop and go in the vid.

Didn't mean to rain on anyone's parade. I just might be a little envious. Don't think I would ever have the dough to retire to such a place. Plus I'm not allowed in the USA because 45 years ago I was apprehended smoking something that was not allowed outside a bar playing 70's music

Truthfully, If anyone's visiting nearby The Villages it's worth stopping in to visit. Heck you can even Call ahead and book a rental Villa. There's even a guide that will show you around. Before you know it you'll be raising cane in the Squares too (and THAT my friend's is putting it mildly!)
