Hi Guys

I overfilled my tank earlier and spilled petrol down both sides of the bike and on the plastics in the centre....I have quickly wiped it off and it seems OK...is this gonna mess my paint/plastics up? - I would hope not on sealed factory paint. I'm at work for 12 hrs now and can do nothing at present. Advise please.

No.....Honda would have a hell of a problem if gasoline discolored an overflow.

Sounds like you need to go toss a bucket of something on it... I know the black will come back with mothers 'back to black' but not sure if the paint will suffer or need anything. Your wax will be gone.

I would wash it down but I'm at work now on a 12hr night shift! - it should be OK shouldn't it? Must be more careful in future!!! I used a different filling station and this pump didn't shut off like my usual one does.

I don't know of too many riders who have not over filled their tanks at some point in their lives. Even those with cars have. It won't hurt the paint, though it would be a good idea some time at your convenience to wash the area with soap and water to get the residue off. Then put some kind of protector on the bike, like a plastic polish. It will be fine right now though.

Whoops! Smelly fuel arisin' :D
Stu, do you get a break during your 12 hour shift? (Say Yes)...If so, grab a tall cup, fill it with water (in the loo, water closet, bathroom, fountain, or sink) and rinse the area.
Peace of mind counts. I get that! ;)

Relax it'll be fine, unless you've been filling it with paint stripper instead of petrol.
