parking lot encounter

I Come out of grocery store with two (small) bags of edibles and go to the side of the parking lot where my beat up but obviously once beautiful PCX is standing. As I put my bags away under the seat and into the top box a car pulls up beside me. A woman, who was standing ahead of me at the checkout, opens the window and says: "Is that yours? " I am tempted to say: "No I was just putting my groceries in before I steal it." But then I think to myself: "Why be a jerk?" and say instead: "Yes." She says: " It's beautiful!" I say: " Yes, it's a wonderful bike. 100 miles to the gallon." This last piece of info doesn't much phase her. She is patently not in want of the long green. She is a small woman, no longer young and probably never athletic. She says finally, and with delight: "I could hold that up!" I say, with the accent of one who knows: " Yes, you could." She thanks me and drives away.
Is this a heart warming story, or what? Another PCX lover born before my very eyes! And I assited at the birth!

Ooooo, yes!! As a short older woman myself, love the PCX!
Bigger scooters keep trying to tip themselves onto the pavement.
(And it would have ruined the moment to ask for a phone number)

I was wondering the same thing - but he also said she was "no longer young and probably never athletic" - so maybe not the one to hold it up

I am at an age where that sort of thing is avoided, not sought. Enough is enough.

She did not say, "Can I hold it up?" She said, " I can hold that up!" Big difference.

You don't need to be young and athletic to hold up a PCX. True, you do need a certain robustness and sense of balance--which both I felt intuitively this person had. I wouldn't have encouraged her otherwise.

i have had encounters like that with a lot of older couples. i think they are looking for some fun for both of them, but the wife wants her own bike. That is how my wife ended up with hers.
I purchased my Burgman 400 and she rode as a passenger one or two times before deciding that she wanted her own bike. We have even been out riding on our scooters and have had couples on Harleys come up to us and ask about its ability to keep up with other bikes. We gave them all of the stats and they were still impressed. If you are not riding on the freeways this is a great little bike, especially if you just want to ride back roads and around town.

I have had more women than men ask me about my PCX. It is just another proof of the fact that has always been obvious to me: Women are smarter than men.
