I probably shouldn't joke about it, but I bet that is the last time he tells her to follow him.

Telling people to follow you probably has resulted in more accidents. It's like a funeral or baby duck effect. So many times I see kids running across the highway from a group, one sprints out and without even looking inevitable the dumbest will follow. I live next to a secured storage unit and I know when two cars are leaving from the gate into traffic they most likely know each other and will bolt at the same time, the second feeling the need to keep up with the first and becoming a hazard to me as cross traffic.
These things I try to teach my son but Chief says you know how that goes.

OMGaddosh, where do you find these youtubes homie?
Mom following son too closely on bike, plus mom is "daydream believing" or mesmerized watching her son. Nah, probably texting. Then...SlamBam!
"Oh Jacob, I'm so sorry. Your Aunt Carol just texted me, Uncle Dennis is not eating his breakfast again." "I just looked down for one second and then there you were." (BooHoo, Sob, BooHoo)
But Wait!!....."Why didn't you put some side view mirrors on that damn bike?!" "Then you would've seen me coming!" "Damnit Jacob!"
(just role playing Fun folks. Love me stories )
What bike was that anyway? No mirrors?

At a Sneaks peek viewing, I thought I saw underbar mirrors (that is sooo ridiculous if they are).
But then "I chose" to believe they were bar hand guards. After all, who mounts mirrors UNDER the bars? My Italian Uncle (rip) would answer this...."they're eery-its!" (Idiots)

hehe... I feel kinda sorry for the mom, can you imagine this will be the topic of every family get together FOREVER! Dude landed on his feet, another reason I don't mind seeing low profile vehicles following me and prefer to get in a lineup with one behind me. RATHER THAN THESE DARN ROCK HAULERS

Be(a)ware of All Trucks me homie lass. Yes, Mama will Never hear the end of this - Ever!
Do sympathize.
A safe Lesson learned by both and a story to tell to remind them. (and mind you, that story will grow...and grow...and grow)
"You backed into me Jacob, don't You remember?"

I reckon she was looking left to give way instead of at the immediate threat in front of her (son on bike).

That's another common accident since 'right on red' laws. The person at the corner attempts to make the 'right on red' turn but then stops short (never do it), second vehicle assumes the first went on and crashes into the back of the first. 'Right on red' moves traffic better but makes insurance companies crazy.
Never goose up at a 'right on red' unless you intend to make the turn or the guy behind you may clean your clock

That wasn't a right on red though, it's a turn right at any time give way situation. You can see the triangular sign.
The son stopped because he didn't want to break the convoy and needed room for his mum to merge with him.
Otherwise it looked safe for him to proceed.
But she wasn't driving in convoy mode, and just proceeded if there was room for her to merge without looking in front of her first.
There's a reason why insurance companies always blanket responsibility for rear end collisions on the car behind, even though it's not that simple in the real world.
If you're not the first driver in the queue to give way, you look at the vehicle in front of you before looking away for incoming traffic to give way to.

Yep, I saw the yield sign, I was just saying 'right on red' has it's potential to be rear ended if you pull up short because the guy behind you is most likely looking for his opportunity and not at you anymore.

Yeah, but drivers should always treat the solid white line or stop signal as a stop sign and come to rest, first.
Just the same way you don't bail through a stop sign without coming to rest.
