Forza 300 16,000 main dealer mile service cost

Hi all,
My Sept-14 Forza is coming up for it's 2 year service by which time it will have done 14,300 miles (8,300 since the previous service)
I contacted a local Honda main dealer to get a price for this service and requested that, as well as the belt, rollers & usual service parts that they replace both front & rear pads (it is still on the original brake pads front & rear so want them replaced at the same time) - they quoted me £497 including VAT.

Whilst I realise I could save money by using an independent I'm using a Honda dealer so if they find anything untoward it'll hopefully be replaced & covered since the vehicle is still under warranty.

Can I ask your views on this price?

Thank you

Sounds like an awful lot of money to me.
I paid less than £350 for the same work.

Yes, my thoughts exactly buddy - Good old South-East of England rip-off prices where they charge the customer £66 per hour plus vat and pay the apprentice who does the work £140 for a 37 hour week!
They've got you by the short & curleys whilst its under warranty

Even £350 is a lot of cash.
I can get a 12,500 mile full service and MoT on my car for around £230

Ridiculous. It's a two hour job max. Plus parts and VAT

Isn't it nearly out of warranty?

I think I'd do it myself and save £400. Even if it took all day thats a great daily rate, suspect very few of us are paid that!

If you have a good history with a trusted independent shop.....I would ask their price for the same work and parts. Two wheel buddies recommend a trusted shop?
In the States non-dealer servicing does not void a vehicle warranty. .....and you folks must have more that our one year warranty?
But it is your scooter. ...go with what makes you comfortable.
(when faced with the same first expensive scooter servicing. ....I bought some tools and a manual and set about seeing what scooter guts looked like.....but it also seemed my dealer had little more experience with scooters than did I!.... I am in scooter barren farm country.)
Let us know how you get on...

I paid €245. I bought all the parts that were needed, stayed there for three hours and everything went fine, just the way i wanted/expected. Authorized Honda service shop. My scooter was 22 months old back then. £500 Pete... i wouldn't even pass outside that shop again!

I'm in Medway towns, Kent
The Honda dealership is 21st Moto at Swanley, who I used when I had the Swing.
Honda Aylesford quoted even more!

I do use an independent (Motoworks in Newington) on my Bandit and he is a really good mechanic who charges sensible money and does a great job - my dilemma is if anything is found that would be covered under warranty as it runs out in September.

Agree about the car as well, my fiesta goes 12,500 miles between services that cost £180 at Fords! Motorcycles & Scooters have always been more expensive to maintain over long distances than cars - 4 tyres on the Fiesta is under £200, 2 tyres on the Bandit cost £220.

However, thanks to you folks comments and the fact that the Forza is running well, I'm going to call this independent guy and get him to get me a price for the job using genuine Honda service parts since I believe that I'm right in my thinking that if genuine Honda parts are used it is still covered under warranty

Whilst I was happy enough changes clutches on my old Cortina in the 70's I am not confident enough nor have the necessary equipment to do this myself.

Thanks again for your valued input.

So is it just about to go out of warranty?

So my Forza 300 had it's 2nd 8,000 mile service today, at an independent dealer but using Honda parts.
Scooter is 22 months old
New Belt, rollers, air cleaner, spark plug, front & rear brake pads and new rear tyre.

Rear pads were on the limit - @ 14,547 miles
Front pads had circa 15-20% life left
Air cleaner was black
Belt & rollers looked to be fine but were replaced

Previous service was oil change at 6,041 miles and at 12 months old in Sep-15.
I'm now hoping for another 8000 trouble free miles

Did you get the valve clearances checked?

I had that quote this weekend.
Plus £80 for a new Tyre and fitting
Plus £25 for an MOT
Plus £100 for another warped brake disc which would fail MOT
Plus £30 for new rear pads again.

Grand Total of £685

It broke me, They offered me £2.1k Part Exchange.

So goodbye Forza,

They also mentioned that the Forza is being discontinued this year and not being replaced. I have had some good rides on it and It did the job. But overall customer satisfaction is low.

3 Front Discs, 1 under warranty
3 sets of rear Pads
2 Gas Struts under warranty and it still doesn't work.
2 recalls
Terrible paintwork (White), same problems as my old PCX (White) If you keep it outside, the rain just seems to dissolve the lacquer over time. and you end up with matt patches which end up stained from rain and grime.

Mine will also be gone by the end of the month.
No more Thailand Honda's for me, quality is just not good enough.

I used Motoworks at Newington for the service in the end - came out at £363 and included fitting of a new back tyre that I supplied.
The owner, Lee, does the servicing on my Bandit and is very good.

Interesting post that Honda are ditching the Forza - I can't see that happening because, whilst the SH300 returned, it pretty much uses Forza 300 mechanical parts and the Forza 300 has been a good seller.
Watch this space I guess.

Sorry GN2 - don't know if the valves were checked if I'm honest - so probably not.
What will your replacement be once the Forza goes?

Beegmouse - £2,100 is a very reasonable p/ex price in my opinion - what have you chopped it in for?

I agree, my KLX out of Thailand had a few problems also but the Honda was worse.
