I was reading a motorcycle magazine while the scoot was getting inspected and saw an article about this app. It downloads the roadmap so that you can use the map while off line (and so not use any data, or use on a tablet rather than a phone). It is simply a map, and if you have a GPS chip, a little arrow thing that shows where you are. It zooms down to the block level, so it can be used while walking the streets of wherever, and it seems to cover a great deal of the world. It also seems to be able to do navigation if you want it to.
I really don't like the "road ahead" views of a conventional auto GPS, so this is perfect for me or anybody who just wants a map. Knowing where you are is just icing on the cake.
Check it out - the price is right (free for android, and I think IOS as well)

On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

Re: MAPS.ME navagation app
Thanks for the app. There have been a few times when we have gotten disoriented and have had to use our data up on our phone to find our way. I downloaded this app onto my tablet just now to see if it can help in the future.

Our IT guy at work recommends this maps.me thing, I prefer to just look around me to see where I am.
