Please help

today I stopped off at a takeaway to get dinner after picking up my wife from work, up to now everything was fine. Got our dinner started scooter and drove away after about 100-150 yards the dashboard lights and fuel gauge all started to flash irrationally. I pulled over to stop scooter and see what was wrong but the scooter just cut off. I can't restart it at all the speedometer is stuck at 20mph.

Could this be battery related, fuse related or something else ??

Good one -- the kicker is the business about the speedo being stuck at 20mph. That sounds like a short to me, so I'd start with the fuses and then look at the battery.

It does sound like a power supply fault. Check the battery terminals are tight.

turns out the red clamp on battery corroded and snapped so now have to find out how to get a new clamp and get it fitted is a small area to work in :(

I removed the seat to work on putting a solar battery tender connector in to the battery. More room.

That's really interesting that the speedo stuck right where it was when the cable broke. I'd never thought about that before. I guess most batteries die when the scoot is sitting still, so the speedo wouldn't be affected. Ya learn something new every day.

The whole battery cover is easy to remove.
