Stuck on a Ice ridge

I pulled my Forza 300 off of the road to take a picture of it beside snow at the side of the Allison Pass (4403 ft) Highway 3 in BC. I could see that the pullout was muddy so I slowed right down. I intended to blast through a little 5 inch ridge of sand left by a grader. It was not sand but ice covered with mud. The scooter stopped and sank in the mud. I tried to get going again but I could not. I was puzzled why such a little thing had stopped me. I got off and saw the ice ridge. My Forza was high centered on top of the little thing.
I got out my 17mm wrench and started attacking the ridge. Eventually I cleared a hole for my tire to go through. The heat of the engine melted the top of the ridge off and I was able to get through. Today was really warm so it was a surprise to get stuck on ice.
I did Hope, Princeton, Merritt and back to Hope for about 350 km. It was a nice warm day for a change, no rain. The Forza ran well and I managed to miss most of the big potholes for a change.
