Had a go on 125, found it struggled a bit getting me over 50. I,m 6ft 4 and 15stone. A 150 may be a little better? Forza 300 too cramped and i,m not taking padding out of seat on a new bike! I like the pcx design and small size. So is a 150 worth a go Chaps and Chappess,s? It will be mainly used for little country lanes in Lancashire. Check out "scootering about" on you tube, my patch.

It will be difficult to get a 150 as it has never been an official uk model.
A Peugeot Citystar 200 would be a better bet.

I now own a PCX150 and a Forza 300, and have had a PCX125.
I am an inch or two shorter than you but weigh quite a bit more and think the 150 would be much better than the 125 for you.
However for me the Forza is much more fun with the extra power. It is a bit cramped but I have gotten used to this for smaller rides, and a lot heavier than a PCX. For longer rides you just need to remove the seat "collar" which is 10 nuts if I remember correctly, and then you can stretch out.

There are 150,s available in uk. Even though they are not officially! Interesting you can remove that seat collar, i thought you had to remove padding? If it,s just a case of removing nuts then i will take another look. Thank you.

Yes, there are a very few PCX 150s here, but remember that the 150 has less power than a decent 125.
For instance a Citystar 125 LC.

You'll also need a full bike licence to ride a 150.

Availability aside, a 150 is not going to provide much of a horsepower boost over a 125. If you want speed and something that can haul a gorilla around in comfort , then you'll be best looking at something over 250cc with 20 or more horsepower. I have a very good friend who is about your height, and about 50lb heavier, and he doesn't even fit on my PCX and finds that anything under 650cc wheezes a bit with him aboard. On the other hand, my best friend is 6'1", weighs about 250 lb and rides an elite 110 (Lead 110 across the pond). It gets up to 50 with him on it and he's happy as a clam at high tide, and looks like a bear on a mini-bike.

Thanks for the input lads. I do have a honda 700, little un would be for pootling round the lanes on, which is all i do these days anyway. Losing interest in big bikes, also have enfield bullet 500 efi which i love. Another possibilty is x max 250 which i was lent while a guzzi was off the road, i did 1700 mile on that. The guzzi was off the road for most of my second year of ownership, traded it in the day the warranty ran out, on the advice of the dealer!!!!

A lot depends on whether you want to buy new or second hand and what the budget is.
If you're happy with something used, there's a lot more choice.
If buying new the Xmax is probably the worst value of the 250-300 scooters available.

Was it a pcx? I'm the same height and slightly lighter but don't have any problems getting over 50mph

I just treat it as a scooter and enjoy it as that.

Yes it was a pcx, not been ridden for a while so maybe needed fresh fuel. Will prob keep looking at them though, prefer pcx to x max as i already have big bike and pcx will be more compact in garage and generally as you say its a scoot.

I don't live across the pond but I have a 150 and it has no problem getting up to 50 mph. In fact, now that I have changed out the variator on my wife's bike it wants to run at 50, so it gets there quickly. It now tops out at 75 mph for us, but with your weight and height, even with changes to the variator you might find that it's top end is not as high as ours. Still, if 50 mph is your objective, a pcx 150 should easily be able to do that, since it's top end in optimal conditions is normally 65 mph. Drop that down because of your weight and you should still be able to top out at 60 mph, without changing get out the variator and weights.
