National Cycle extra-tall windshield for 2015 PCX

National Cycle has updated their PCX windshield offerings to fit 2015 and later models, so I ordered the extra-tall touring model in the hope that it would reduce the bite of mid-March temperatures here in the upper midwest US. The shield fit perfectly and I completed the installation in around 15 minutes. I stand 5'10"/178cm tall and do slouch a bit. I have rebuilt my bike's seat to position myself higher and further back. The wind is perceptible over the top of the shield, but there is a faceplate on my helmet, and it is quite a bit milder than with no shield at all. The little wing-like extensions at the bottom act to reduce the wind on the hands. I haven't ridden the bike with the shield in a nasty crosswind, but so far I have not noticed any real change in handling. It doesn't look like a traditional windshield -- perhaps they used a wind tunnel to study airflow patterns, and came up with this swoopy, futuristic-looking design. Anyway, it does seem to work.

Has anyone else noticed that their bike seems to accelerate to top speed faster with a windshield? My PCX reached 60mph/96kph noticeably faster and more smoothly after the shield was installed.

I have that tall version on my 13. It's pretty nice. No worse in x-winds but I did lose about five MPH top speed. I ran an a-b-a test on it and it's definitely the shield slowing it down. I don't notice it accelerating to speed any faster. I'm 5'8" and it's just about right for me at mouth height(another couple inches would be ideal). Those side-winglets do a nice job on the hands, keeping the blast about halfway outboard on the hands.

jdb -- My PCX is brand-new, so perhaps the increase in acceleration has to do with engine break-in, and my growing familiarity with and confidence in the bike (I'm transitioning from a 400lb, 50HP motorcycle to a 280lb, 14HP scooter). Yesterday I reached the WOT speed of around 64mph, as fast as I have heard anyone reach on a stock PCX 150.

Yeah, if I tucked wit the stock shield I would hit exactly 70. With the NC shield it does 65. The 15's speed limiter is set lower than the '13 so your about right on. If your limiter let you do 70 the shield would likely drop you to about 65. Fast enough for me as I don't take it on the highway. I went from a 500 lb. Beemer to this lovely little scooter. So far, it was a great trade.

Looks nice! :D

I bought my Honda OEM tall windscreen last September (2015) when Nat'l Cycle told me they had absolutely no plans to ever make a model to fit the 2015 PCX. If they had told me they were working on one, I would've waited!

How thick is the plastic?

I'm sorry... I've tried to get with the windscreen crowd and knowing I couldn't, avoided the threads. But can we just step back here and look at how far these have come since I have been a member... wow

Can a tall screen get any taller at this point before it becomes a sail? That's all I asking, just an observation.

It's thick enough to retain its shape at 60+mph. No shuddering at speed. Yes, when they said tall, they meant tall. But the bike is so much more pleasant to ride in chilly spring temps, and that feeling like a hand pushing on my chest is gone.
