I finally got around to filling it up for the first time and wow!

Firstly, the PCX actually does have a 200 mile range for the kind of stop and go riding I do.

Secondly, the gas inlet design is better, so the pump shut-off actually works
and there is no danger of spraying myself with gasoline if I get the angle wrong.

Thirdly, the gas cap is dedicated, not under the seat,
so I could leave my bag strapped on and
not worry about gas overflowing onto my under-seat stuff.

I totally love it!

It is a well thought out machine. That is certain.

Just one bit of advice. Try to avoid putting diesel in. The bikes are quite fussy about stuff like that. I went to my local garage the other day and used a different pump and the different types of fuel were arranged in a different order to the one I normally use, fuck knows why, and I nearly ended up putting some in mine! I actually had it in the hole, finger on trigger, but fortunately double checked at the last second.

You're not riding it hard enough.

Yeah, I should ride it harder. That would shake people up some.

The pumps ends should be different colours and clearly marked just above where you grab them from. I average 135 mpg for commuting but as expected from this I don't go crazy and rarely ride at 40 due to hardly any roads being more than 30. I've only been slightly above 40 twice (say 45).

I don't feel comfortable on our urban roads at high speed due to them not getting cleaned anymore (lots of bits and grime all over the surface that is much worse when it rains (bike get covered in crap and wet bits)), pot-holes and raised drains and speed-humps. If we had long nice surfaced roads as in many other countries I would feel more confident riding 50ish.

Fork dive should contribute the the front tyre gripping more if you are breaking in a straight line.

Sounds like you spent half a second grabbing the front brake and much more time than that finding reasons for your error other than yourself.

S'okay, I had some similar misadventures when I was a newbie.
These days I'm a fairly cautious (older female) rider.

...But it would be pretty fun to see people's reaction to me hot dogging it around.

The problem was trying to brake or turn (never mind both) on PA gravel.

I've tried this myself and the result was similar,
although the well armored, way ugly guy's motorcycle jacket I was wearing
saved me from breaking anything.

Nice save! Didn't know it would fit.

They aren't supposed to, but I think it was diesel. It wasn't the usual anyway. I'll check next time I go (in a couple of weeks )

The worst thing is pot holes. I've reported a couple of really bad ones and amazingly the council have filled them, and a few others in the vicinity. Also debris, yeah, can be dodgy. All my riding is done in the dark, and I take the view that what you can't see can't hurt you.

What did the ugly guy say when you returned it?

It was fully depreciated at that point and went straight into the trash.

Yeah, I should know better at my age. Already got a speed awareness in Jan (UK first offence speeding ticket alternative. These PCXs are very nippy, faster than most 125 motorbikes actually. I was doing 48 in a 40 limit where there are no hoses, no shops, nothing.

Not reasons for the error, results of it. Hence the warning to not overdo it on speed and such. I willingly recognize that I misjudged the corner, attempted to slow the scoot, reacted to the contact with gravel by over braking, then went down as the front brake locked up. Analyzing all that happened leads me to recall some fork dive as well.

Since I had admitted my error elsewhere it didn't seem necesary to rehash everything here.
Just a reminder for others to be cautious.

Maneuvering the scoot. On it or off it. Rolling it Up and Off a table lift's a breeze. Turning around in tight quarters, not bad at all. I know there's more to add, but heck...we all know the plus' by now
