Can someone help me out can i use Shell Advance 4T AX7 10w40 Semi Synthetic Motorcycle Engine Oil MA in my 125 pcx oil change ??

You can use 10w40 (or 5wxx etc) but unless you bike spends lots of it's life in sub-zero temps or very high temps there is no point in oil with lower or higher viscosity than needed (10w30 covers -10 to >30)
Fully synth 10w30 is normally the best choice - not too thin, not too thick for most parts of the world.

Why are you looking at semi synthetic when full syn is pennies more?

The scoots use a small amount of oil, some without a true filter, it gets worked hard. A job for true syn oil, IMO

Yup, JMO, that's a better choice, if you are gonna be doing near freezing or below riding, 10 30 is better, in desert/ southern climates, it's 10 40, see your owner's manual.

What's called out in the manual for gear oil? (I think my 2015 PCX 150 calls out 10W-30?)
My bigger question is what's the High Temp/High Shear rating of the Valvoline oil?

I agree, full syn is preferred for scooter/motorcycle application.
However, viscosity selection should be made based on your end-goal for operating your equipment. One person may want 10W-30, while another may want 15W-50. Temperature is only part of the equation. More important are viscosity retention, additive package, and friction modifiers.
Also, just to clarify, the definition of 10W-30 is not "-10 to >30". It's a fluid-flow classification range, not a temp range.

If you look up 10w30, it's specified as being fit for purpose for -10 deg to >+30 deg so covers most of the temp range. It is a guide to the oils viscosity but over a range of temps as given.

Are you talking about a "usage range" shown in the owner's manual? (My 2015's manual doesn't show any "usage ranges" for oil, it only recommends 10W-30.) If that's the case, then I misunderstood what you were saying. Sorry.

I thought you were saying that 10W-30 was actually API rated for use from -10 to <30.

Is that "usage range" in Celsius or Fahrenheit?

Actually 10w30 covers quite a large range, approx -29 to +38 centigrade

I agree, 10W-30 covers a wide usage range. It's not so much the range that worries me, but the shear resistance. Of their 10W-30 oils, only Mobil 1 10W-30 High Mileage has a decent High Temp/High Shear (HT/HS) rating (meets ACEA A3/B3). It's not as good of a HT/HS as their 10W-40 High Mileage oil, so I'd choose M1 10W-40 HM over the M1 10W-30 HM. Both of the HM oils have better anti-wear/detergent additive packages than their non-HM equivalents. Or, since I'll never ride my PCX below 30F degrees, the M1 15W-50 would be the best HT/HS oil (with a robust add-pack) for the greatest protection over the longest change intervals.

Got that from google - but other sites suggested less of a temp range but 10w30 is still good for most climates. 10w40 through 5w40 is starting to get to thin or thick for most climates - heck 10w30 covers at least -20 - +38 C!. Any good oil will do as most of the discussion on oil for the pcx is worrying about nothing - you do not need Moly (Honda even removed that from some of their oils), you do not need MB rated oil (Honda stick that nonsense in in relation to dry clutch CVT) and although fully synth is better any good semi-synth will work just as well - the bike will be just fine (just do not use 2 stroke oil, ever as it leaves deposits as part of it's spec). If people have trouble it's because they bought a no brand $5 piece of crap from a side street or dodgy Ebay dealer
Almost all well known modern brands have additives for the right reasons, oil that lasts and works well in modern engines and there are loads of cheap fully synth 4 stroke oils around - in the UK such as Castrol Power 1 Racing 10w30 or 10w40, Motul, Silkolene, etc, etc.
