Ran over Bambi today

I was cruising along a country road near Crofton BC this afternoon, out of the brush jumped Bambi #1, the Doe and Bambi #2. I iceclamped the breaks which got me down from 60 to I estimate 20 before I hit Bambi #2 with my front left fork and fairing. I missed the other two.
The result was a deer doing the funky chicken at the side of the road, who ofter a minute or so ran off unscathed once he got re orientated. Thank goodness! The bike, slight crack to the fairing, bent driving light mount and embedded hair samples.
The lesson, slow down a bit and pay more attention.

Lucky! And it would appear a nice recovery from a pretty dire situation. Glad you and scoot are OK, and also that the victim was more or less unscathed.

That was pure luck. Imagine if they had all just stood there. Deer and bikes dont mix well. I have friends who lived after a deer strike, but their bike was totally destroyed, and they spent some time in the emergency room.

Very lucky, glad you are okay, bikes can be fixed easily, you cannot.

Oh man love that color scheme, rubber looks good too! You can replace the lower panel yourself bro. You stayed upright, you don't make the crash list. EXCELLENT piece of driving and recovery.
Chief says it's lucky deer, you could have been on a FORZA.

Thank you all for your feedback. It is an eye opener just how fast things can happen.
Priced a new panel at the dealer. He wants 217.00 CAD. I think I will live with the cracks for now.
Gorilla Duct tape solves a multitude of problems. Yes I will put it on the inside of the panel.

Check online at places like bikebandit.com. Their price on panels should beat the dealer, though the cost of labor is the biggest part of scooter repairs.

Thanks Mel46, I will check them out.
Gnarg, sorry to hear about your friend's father. I am beginning to think animals are the greatest risk on the road. They are unpredictable and lightening fast.

I'm late on this thread
Mike I'm so sorry to read this but Happy you're okay! I would have made a crappy mess in my pants if it were me!
Rolling at 60 when Mr. & Mrs. deer decide to cross the road? Frightening experience!
Bike wise? I looked really hard at your pics to find the damages, I really thought it would be worse.
Thank God (yes I typed that), you got to tell us the story and that all walked away from this freaky deer-meeting.
It's scary how creatures just step, or run out at will. They can change your day, your life in a heartbeat!
Geeeeez
