Hey Maddiedog! couple of questions for you when you have a sec. I have a Schmaltese that love to go everywhere with me, so what is your pal sitting on? Do you have him secured with anything? (even just for the first ride?). Also, what saddle do you have on your bike? Been considering a humpectomy, but don't like the look. Would love to have 2-4 more inches to push back, and get a bit more forward lean toward the bars (I race bicycles so like the position). Thanks for any help and insight you can give, and for having an awesome forum!

OK, does anyone have any idea what the dog in the pics is sitting on? Is it a bag that's fits in the step thru with a pad on top? Something custom? A pillow? Is it a photoshopped dog?

It is a 'tunnel bag'. Google search 'Givi tunnel bag' and you will be headed in the right direction.

It's nice for the dog and I have thought about giving him a ride but there is too much going on. Plus I need people watching the road and not looking at me and my dog.

At least he can take his dog, mine's 104 pounds and has not finished growing yet. Perfect size for a sidecar, though!

Anything that makes other drivers notice me instead of running me over is a good thing!

I had the opportunity with to what Maddie jump up onto her spot on the pcx and it was like home to her. She doesn't hesitate. I haven't figured out how she gets on the Strom yet, but she sure loves to ride! Now Dave's other dog wouldn't be caught dead on a bike, but Maddie is a different kind of adventurer. She wants to help even when we were working on the bikes. Even my most loyal dog wanders off, and I wouldn't trust him on my bike. He would think k it is time to get off every time we stopped.

Sweet! Thanks for all the info. Now, I just need to get my girl to let me start riding with the dog. She's not as excited about the idea as I am.

I don't think that my dog will fit in any thing that could be carried on the PCX. She weighs in at 10.5 stone. That is 147 pounds to the people that don't work in stones.

Nice photo. I'd try this with my cat calliope but she is dumb--or crazy--enough to jump out just as I get up to speed.

I'd love to give Baxter a ride, but anything from Givi will be too expensive! Maybe I could get Patty working on a dog carrier! He is a very manageable 15 lbs. Don't know how he would tolerate riding, but the only thing he wants is to always be within two feet of one or the other of us!

This is a picture of Baxter sitting in my chair at my (former) work. I told everybody it was National Bring Your Dog to Work Day, but in truth, he had a grooming appointment. The ladies all made a big fuss over the little guy!

My Maggie sits in an "outward hound" bag. It latches to her collar or harness so she stays put and safe.

When my little Jack Russells were smaller I could attach the travel dog bag to the platform where the tail box normally sits and carry one that way. My biggest JRT required that I get a plastic travel crate instead. However, now that we have had an accident that was not our fault, we will never carry them again. Imagine going 45 mph and suddenly having to swerve and grab your brakes hard, knowing in the end that you are going to crash into something really big and really heavy if you don't jump off. I wouldn't want to have to worry about my dog as well.

That bagged dog is soooo cute!!

Here in Illinois riders don't worry about that kind of thing. I just came back from a ride across town on my PCX. I saw at least four couples--all mature people (agewise at least)--cruising around on big bikes, everyone of them with their mostly graying locks floating on the breeze. It is none of my business of course, but every time I see a guy riding his wife or girlfriend around like that...I am seized by a mighty wonder.

I have concluded that people who go around like that without at least armoring their heads have never fallen off a motorcycle. Do it once, and if you survive, you will either quit or cover up. No?

No doubt. However, when I was much younger and the helmet laws did not exist except on military bases, I rode with a helmet. My friends did not. My friends never made it to age 25. Every one of them died of head injuries from motorcycle accidents. My guess is that if someone lived after a major motorcycle accident, they either learned something because they had a helmet on, or they will never learn anything again except possibly how to walk and maybe how to talk.
