So....finally I had my fatter Heidenaus fitted this Friday, rode it home (about 200 yards from the shop!) and wanted to use the scooter this morning just to find the front tyre gone flat! Didn´t use it at all this weekend and really rode just around the corner, I can´t see any damage to the tyre either.

I kinda lost my trust in the mechanic that fitted it, the guy doesn´t want to come around 200 yards to get the wheel off and told me to roll it to his place instead! I am thinking that this would damage tyre and rims and said "I think I want to wait until you come and get it" but it went back and forth like that to no avail.

I like to take the little scooter onto to motorway so don´t want to take any chances, would you roll the bike that far? Could I damage the tyre in that time? I can´t be fussed to faff around with the front wheel brake caliper etc.

Have you not got a foot pump or an electric one you could to blow it up so you could take it back to him?

Did he change the valve? The core is possibly not tight.

Valve core: No idea, I don´t think he did.

I sometimes blow up Landrover tyres with a bicycle pump.

I put 40lbs in mine with bike pump.
Blow it up, and slop some soapy water on it and see where the bubbles are coming from.
If its in the tread, you picked something up in your short ride home. If its around the rim, he may have torn the bead putting it on.

Use the bike pump to blow it up. Then ride it to the shop. He will want to be sure that it goes flat, so he will probably let it sit over night, so get a ride home.

Thanks for your reply. I meant one of them emergency pushbike pumps for small valves...

I used a neighbours pump to fill the tyre up yesterday and the next day it was flat. Used it again this morning to push the scooter to the mechanic and when I got there the tyre was flat again...the guy was in a van and when he saw me, he pulled back in again and said that he was on my way to get the PCX.

Mechanic redeemed (partly), I really hope that sudden deflation doesn´t happen again, certainly not when I am riding along. Lets see what the outcome is, if I have to get e new tyre or not as I am not taking any chances with that one.

Re. bike pumps > some are only good for certain bikes and nothing else i.e. a pump perfectly fine for a mountain bike is not that good with road bikes as they need much higher psi - so if you have a high psi bike pump you will be fine (but hard work) if not, it just won't work.
Always a good thing to get one of those light-weight 12v electric pumps and carry it with you on longer journeys. I got one that comes with lots of lead attachments (cigar - never use that as PCX has 5A fuse), permanent battery leads that you plug the inflator into, or croc-clips. It also has a light, accurate gauge and various adapters. Cost about £50 as I imported it from the US but you can get cheaper ones here from many outlets. Never have to worry about fuel station pumps being out of service and a means to always implate your tyres when you wish should the need arise.

It was the valve stem, although new from outside it must have broke when refitting. Quite scary if such a sudden total loss of pressure would have happened at speed...

I am very pleased with the change of tyres, the scooter is much less nervous and the braking power is now out of this world! I attribute this both to stickier rubber (Heidenau K66) and wider contact patch, put size 100 in the front and 120 in the back without any issues.
