What are you getting for miles on the rear oem tire before its ready to be replaced?

10,000 miles on the rear IRC. The original front is still fine at 19,000 miles

That makes it hard for me to justify new tires at 4k then. Crap!

Somepeople get less mileage, esp. if they ride full throttle a lot or ride at speed, but if you really want to replace it (some do not like the stock tyre) it's only £40-50. If you feel better or safer with a change, then it's worth it. Keep the original as a spare.

I ordered the Michelin City Grip 140/60 for the rear, and the Pure Power SC 120/70 for the front. Gonna put another 500 miles or so on the stockers then chuck them.

Buy the tires you want when you buy the scooter it's around a hundred dollars for the set. Store the new IRC's right off so you have new tires to swap out on resale. Why try to wear them out wishing you had better rubber whilst wearing out your scooter to 20,000

I like the stock IRC's I will take every set that gets taken off.

The rear tire has enough of a flat spot spot that I just want to replace it. I can't see getting more than 5k out of it total with how much wear is on it now. Guess I should stop going to so many burnout contests

These have to be two stroke... where do they get such FUN scooters? Fat man burns out at the end of the video until the tire explodes.

Went for a ride yesterday on my stock IRC's with 6700km (4,000 m) on them. It started to spit with rain and suddenly I was riding on ball bearings on ice. I hit a slow curve and the rear end moved about 1000mm (4") sideways.

Needless to say I completed the rest of my ride a snails pace. I've ridden in heavier rain previously and took a little care, but it was nothing like I experienced yesterday.

Is this normal for IRCs, or are all tyres that bad in very light rain?

I didn't notice any improvement when I put my Michelin on the back after 10,000 miles on the original IRC. It still steps out over wet paint lines. It is lasting longer though. My front IRC is still on at 19,000 miles.

I would get in sooooo much trouble with one of those.

I have thousands of miles on the front left at 13k.

Rear was replaced at 9000 if I'm remembering correctly.

OK, OK, I just want new tires! Can't help myself.

Well, changing to the Michelin City is a sideways move. They last longer but don't really stick any better than the IRC. Maybe the new Pirelli Diablo will prove to be stickier for those that want to drag a knee and slide the PCX.

I went bigger to get a slight increase in circumference, and a more importantly to me, air volume. Should be able to run the rear 3 at 3-5 less psi which along with the new shocks should take a bit of sharpness out of the hits on the rear suspension. I just did a 210 mile round trip the front end didn't bother my near as much for ride quality as the rear. It would be as bad if you could unweight yourself a bit, but the foot position on a scooter doesn't lend itself well to that.

I used to ride a Honda cx500 that a dealer replaced the rear tire in the wrong direction. They had markings as to which was forwards on the tire. Anyway the thing had incredible grip going forward. I could pop a wheely no problem on wet pavement. However even that tire would slip on a wet painted stripe. I doubt anyone makes a tire that wouldn't slip on wet paint, other than possibly a racing ties ment to only last a few hundred miles.

I ride a 2015 Honda PCX 150, and at 4200 miles I'm into the wear mark on the rear IRC. I'm not timid, and regularly test the bike's limits; so I'm looking for something that will hold up better. Someone said the Michelin's are a lateral option; but in the same sentence talked about improved wear.

If anyone out there doesn't ride like everyday is a Sunday and has objective input for tire comparison, I would appreciate it.

I 3rd that - no problem after almost 2 years of constant riding, rain on just about sub zero. I just ride for the conditions. Yes, I can get the rear to slip a few inches on a bend, but that is over a wet grate and I expect it to do that - so I go slow or just go around it. No one can avoid black ice or such if it's dark and temps are low, so ride slowly and prepare to slow down but not grab the brakes.
