A friend currently with a Harley is looking at converting to a Triumph Explorer XC ABS 1200. I just don't see many of them in my area and have little knowledge of them. Anyone hear anything about them? Any problems? My friend is a big dude (Retired Offensive Tackle Oakland) and wants an adventure bike that is large enough for his 6'7" height and 300 lbs. o_O He isn't keen on Asian bikes. About all I know is it has a shaft drive. Any help is appreciated.

Doesn't want to join a scooter forum but some folks here own Triumph XC's.

But to answer your question - an NFL football player type?

My buddy rides a TEX and loves it. Its a bit heavy for off road but very capable for gravel roads. Bike excels on pavement too. Its a great touring bike. Have your buddy get on the Tiger forum and there is lots of info. Some good deals on the 014 comes with the crash bars lights and expedition bags which are now Givi Trekkers with the Triumph logo.

Very nice. He has been studying them and is test riding one soon. We don't really do off-road even in the Ozarks with these beasts. He has been riding his custom Harley type bike about everywhere we go. It is just too heavy at about 800 lbs.
