They are a lot of fun. Just keep in mind that the hobby is expensive. .. AND there have been a few of us who have either lost them or almost lost them. We try to push them out as far as we can get them, or as high as we can. The problem is itwill keep going and be out of range eventually.

I have 4 quadcopters but the good one automatically comes back to it's original GPS coordinates if it loses the transmitter signal for any reason.

.... but the others don't. In fact, there was a discussion on one of the forums about some of those with the return to home capability not making it back because the battery ran out, so that seems to be a real concern. Several of the members stated that they lost their Gopro because of that. I think the ideal addition would be a smal battery that kicks in if the quadcopter is in return mode and the battery drops below a certain point. Yes, it would add to the weight, but if the circuit could be set up so that once it reaches that low everything else shuts down but the nav and the motors, it could probably do it with a very small battery. It could give the copter an extra 1 or 2 minutes.

Mel - like loss of radio signal, it would be simple for the manufacturers to add a function to return to GPS home if the battery condition was getting low.
