another bike question

For you veteran riders:
I read service manuals at bedtime...CB500X has a "switch" on the clutch lever. I noticed that rubber boot the other.
It has been decades since I owned a motorcycle.
So, what/why a switch there? To prevent over revving??

Same reason your scooter has a switch on the sidestand.

How about to keep you from starting it in gear with the clutch engaged
