Any advice on how to prevent my exhaust from rusting anymore? From what I've read ACF50 is great for preventing rust but "burns off" when used on the exhaust. Any tips?

High temp paint, right. I've never used it before and didn't know if it would be a good idea for exhaust. I'll give it a try.

Take it off and have it ceramic coated. Permanent finish.

I use the sperex spray. Works well

For an exhaust you need exhaust paint! High temp paint might work for a BBQ but the temps are much higher on an exhaust. The only rattlecan paint I have had any luck with on exhausts is VHT Flameproof.

Sperex is the head corporation that owns VHT so the stuff you you is talking about is probably the same.

Seems good for the price - about £6 + p/p. This has a ceramic base which fast1075 suggested is permanent. So, what does Honda supply the stock exhaust coated with? I would imagine this kind of thing but it does not seem to last long in some environments.

The ceramic coating I referred to is applied after prep and baked on in a kiln. It is applied as a wet mist, then baked. It is impervious to water and most everything else. I used it on my race bikes. The Turbo/alcohol KZ would have the header and turbo exhaust housing orange hot during a pass. The finish never failed or discolored.

So you know the VHT flameproof has to be baked on. They give two methods, oven and exhaust heat. The oven method works better but does make a smell and some people fear food contamination.

Most manufactures use some sort of baked on coating although it may not contain ceramic.

Washed it
Gave it 3 coats
*note: the paint will be dry to the touch but will easily scrape off until it has been baked.

My oven was too small to bake it so I went with the idle for 20 minutes method of curing it, then took it out for a ride.

I'm not sure what those little white specs are but they wiped right off.

Result. Just using the bike fetches the paint to the right temperature to cure

Just sorted my exhaust out on my scooter I'm trading in for my PCX - I like to hand over a clean scooter!

Took off exhaust trim, rubbed down with wire wool, wiped down with panel wipe and allowed to dry. Two coats of matt black exhaust paint (brush on, easier to apply) purchased from Halfords.

Usually do this after winter every year and my exhaust looks new despite being 5 years old.
