Not sure since my manual is for the 2013. There is a regulator/rectifier in the ECM on mine for converting the AC to DC for charging the battery and probably for running the FI computer among other things as I look at the manual. Let me check the Forza manual which has a socket.

Just curious as I hope to run my Samsung Note 2 of one, and the blurb I glanced over said AC output.

99% sure it's DC. 12v DC. It would have a different style socket if AC, probably, for one thing.

A lot of promotional photos show a mobile phone being charged in the glove compartment. I'm sure it's your standard run of the mill 12V DC charger.

I went on three business trips last week and it would've been really nice to be able to charge my iPhone 4S when I got back to my scooter at the ferry terminal/airport. I have a battery case for it but it just doesn't last the day.

I raised the 'AC' query when the 2014/5 PCX came out as all of Honda's advertising and dealers web pages list the outlet as 12AC! (as if it's direct alternator unrectified output or not smooth DC). Still, it must be DC as loads of people have used it to charge phones. From memory, I believe it's fed via a 5A fuse almost direct from the starter/alternator (PCX's clever stop/start design) as it was not fused high enough for some mobile tyre chargers, but it needs to be measured. I may remember to do that later today.

AC is possibly short for accessory? Is maybe a poor translation.

I installed a 12V outlet in the "glove box" of my 2011 PCX last summer ( pics are on another posting in Accessories ). It's wired to turn off when the ignition is off so the battery doesn't get drained inadvertently. I've used it for my phone but mainly for the GPS mounted on the RAM mount. Works fine and was very easy to install --- about 1 hour.

The socket works fine, it's DC.

I run my iphone 5 with GPS CoPilot from it. It also charges at the same time.

And a standard car 12v charger works fine? I hope to use my Galaxy note 2 with a bar mount for GPS while out in the city enjoying the lovely one way system we have.

We add them on the battery under the seat via a Battery Tender connection on the 2013s. Takes about 15 minutes. In some regards I like it there better.

oh my... but then, would I just charge my battery under the seat or would I wire it to the cluster and get a mount? lol

Well the door isn't open anyway when you are riding so the device is supposed to be in the compartment to charge and not mounted. I cheated on my Forza and run the phone/gps and camera from the outlet. On my 2013 PCX I ran a power wire to the cable hole on the dash from the battery - also the tach wire. Much cleaner than trying to use the outlet. Just make sure they are fused.

I'm using it that way I've made a little space for cable by filler.

I am using a mini 6" bungee to hold the door nearly closed. I don't ride in the rain. Looks good.

BrAtKo, Just an observation, best to have as little weight as possible(keys) on the ignition switch.
