Queensland and Northern Territory

I wasn't aware of Cyclone's "Marcia" and "Lam" till I heard this morning's weather newscast.
My God, are you all safe? Come back and let us know when you can :|

Knowing some Aussies online, they're likely out back having a BBQ and a beer wondering what all the fuss is about.

I'm sitting here in Brisbane about 600km from the cyclones centre, listening to the rain and watching it out my office door. We've had about 300mm (12 inches) of rain in the past 24 hours, some gusty wind and water almost up to our back door, nothing serious. We expect the rain to last another 12 - 24 hours and drop another 200mm or so on us.

Were half way down a hill and cop all the water from neighbours who don't bother putting in proper drainage, but that's life. You really can't install drains big enough for this amount of rain

The cyclone caused some serious damage where it crossed the coast, but everyone was well prepared and no loss of life occurred. Just part of the perils of living in the tropics and climate change :(

Thanks for all the concern, this is a truly friendly forum :D :D

John it's good :P to read that you're okay and that it's over and gone. I saw the water, any bad damage?

Geez, when I heard two cyclone's were moving in and one being a Cat 5, I cringed! I know the horrible fear that overcomes you after living in Florida for 15 years. I would spend time hiding in the "safest" room I had with a portable radio and blanket as well as important documents, keys and the like. I don't miss any of that!! Not any!

Phew...."Another One Bites The Dust, uh huh!!" (2 really ;)

Picking up After them Especially after the Great Dane/mastiff cross. What she left would have damaged a bus if it had bumped into it.

Prefer staffies now, they are neater in that department. One chippolata in the morning, and maybe one in the late evening. Luxury.

We are damage free here, just a bit of silt on our back verandah (porch, patio), only received approx 500mm (20 inches) of rain in 3 days.

In Central Qld there are 50,000 homes damaged or destroyed, but no lives lost. We had plenty of warning and took whatever precautions possible.

Just another day in paradise :D :D

Move to Yorkshire and leave your sunblock behind. We only had 17 days without some form of rain last year.
