Acceptable Top End Speed when running in??

First run out today on my new PCX and wondering what is an ok top end speed during its running in period? Also what is the norm for running distance, the manual states 300 miles, is that an over/under or pretty accurate figure??
Also added a few pics of my new PCX as i think it is sex on rubber!!!
Only down side is that my crash helmet does not fit under the seat....its about 3 inches shy of closing. It will close if i push down hard but doubt that is going to do neither the seat or the helmet any good.

There is always a lot of debate about "break-in". I would stay well-below the max speed. Don't run for extended periods at any given speed.... move up and down in speed. 300 miles should be more than enuf to break-in the scooter.
More and more people are doing the exact opposite. They run the scooter hard.... right from the beginning. Mechanics on forums say that the "break-in" belongs to the 1950's.

Do what it says in the manual.
Which is something along the lines of ride normally with no full throttle starts.

Break in may be at 300 to 600 miles, but you won't see its top performance until you get close to 2,000 miles. That doesn't mean that you can't ride like you normally would until the 2,000 miles is reached though. It just means that it won't do its best until then. Read and follow the manual's suggested break in miles (my 2013 pcx 150 says 600 mile, but your 125 may have a different requirement).

ok I'm going to be blunt!
now in 2014, engines are so precisely made there isn't to much of a need for a run in of 10-20 years ago, Hone marks in the inside of a new cylinder now are so fine you almost cant see them on factory fitted cylinder (aftermarket may obviously be different)
these engines are run on a 'jig' in a factory before installation and tested right through the rev range. the engines are then run in the factory in the bikes, they are excessively idled when being PDI'd and the when the mechanic takes it on a test drive usually 4-5 miles and they will run it all the way through the rev range, lets face it by then if anything was to go seriously wrong it would have by then...
in 4 stroke motocross now, new engine are raced straight from the off without any need for any form of break in!
although i don't recommend running your bike full throttle for hours at a time, bottom line is don't over worry about breaking you bike in, but also do abuse the bike by giving it full throttle for long periods

You will also hear 'ring seal' heared all over. What people don't realise is ring seal is done withinf the first few miles of a new engine running and engines need load to encourage the rings outwards.. But again rings are so precisely made and the fine honeing means ring seal is almost already very tight and where it should be.
If I get chance I'll write a more detailed guide up for the forum

beautiful... very nice!
Chief say's "Helmets that fit under the seat should be a thread in itself" I will start one so we's all don't buy anything whilst online that won't fit under the seat.

Do abuse the bike?

Looks great in red, just ride it without abusing it & all will be fine.
Helmets always fit in the top box!

We purchased custom seats shortly after buying our bikes, so our helmets have never fit under the seat. Our solution was to buy a tailbox for each bike, which we now use almost every ride.
