Hi All,

So at the moment i have got a Piaggio Typhoon 125 4T and it is currently in the garage undergoing a major repair (the bike needs new valves, piston, cylinder and a few other bits) despite being less than a year old and being riden as a daily commuter it has been in the garage about 5 times in 10 months. SO..... i have been given a loaner bike of a 2011 pcx (non esp) in silver and i have to say i love it! despite it being a bigger bike it feels a lot pokier and feels like it acellerates faster. It still only runs up to 60 mph on the flat but it is a rental bike so may not be performing as well as it could.

Due to the hassle with my old bike the dealership have offered a very good deal on a black 2013 pcx 125 esp so hopefully i'll be joining you guys and girls permanently! :)
I'll let you know as soon as i get confirmation! :)

You won't get much more out of a 125 PCX - it's limited to about 62mph top.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
You can't go far wrong with an ESP model, they are pretty bullet proof. I've had my 125v1 for over 3 years and never had any problems.

I'm not all that fussed if i get any faster... would be nice but not needed as i go to work and home on it... that's about it! lol

I will mainly be looking at the styling side of things. Seen some AMAZING examples on here. can't wait to find out if i get it!

All I do on mine is commuting as well. It only goes out on weekends if I'm working.
The max speed of a typhoon is about 60mph as well isn't it?
The speedos on the pcx seen to be at least in Europe to be a bit optimistic. My one reads about 5 mph faster at 60ish than the gps on my phone. They can be fettled with to go a little faster but if its mainly towns your in is probably not really worth it unless your into that sort of thing.
You can get lighter rollers or sliders to give a little better acceleration. There's plenty on the forum all about it. ;)

My 2012 pcx 125 with 1300 miles on it at a Speedo indicated 67 mph is actually doing 60 mph GPS and no faster the rev limiter kicks in. But I use mine everyday to do 17 miles each way commute on a mixture of dual carriageway and mixed urban ratio approx 14 miles dual carriageway the rest on other roads. And it performs well on my commute and returns approx 120 mpg. The low miles is due to I have only had the bike a month.

I use the start stop and I like it I have had no problems in heavy traffic.....it has always started instantly and is quickly activated from cold. I would honestly recommend the pcx 125 as an ideal commuter bike. And by the way welcome to the forum.

Welcome to the forums, and hopefully welcome to a PCX as well. I think no matter what bike I had, if it gave me a many problems as your current bike has given you, I would be ditching it. Too bad you have had such a challenge with it. It must be incredibly frustrating.

I hear very little about lemon (Canadian/US term) PCX's. There were a couple of complaints here on the forums with the 2014/15 model, but it sounds like most of those were related to assembly either by the dealer, or possibly at the factory. Even with reputable vehicles, the occasional lemon roles of the line. Too bad you had to get one. I hope your next experience is better.

Is there anything i should be aware of running the bike in etc?

Not really. Just ride it normally and avoid full throttle starts. Most modern stuff now its not so critical. Just be sensible on it until the first service at 600 miles.
