10680 Miles OEM tires replaced

I had some time off today, so I finally got around to replacing my tires. The shop still has the scooter, as its extremely busy, may take a few days to get it back.

Thought I'd give a report about the OEM IRC tires that come with the 125cc pcx:

They work fine.

--end of report--

My riding and braking style offers me a long tire life. I could have pushed to maybe 11,500 miles but I have been wanting to get the Michelin City grips on the PCX. I hit the wear bars around 10,000 miles. I keep hearing how good they are. I've had a set since Christmas waiting for me. I got both tires for under $75 USD shipped to my door. I was reading up on how to change tires, but I think this will be the only service I leave to the shop guys. I can and have done everything else. Since they will have the trans open, Only a couple extra bucks to put a new Honda drive belt on. I've requested they save it, as I need to measure it and see how long I can go next time before changing it.

If these city grips can go 15,000 miles, I'll be happy, and swap a new drive belt on each time I change tires.

My question is, do the variator, or rollers ever need replacing?

Oh... Some photos:

Yes rollers do wear and need replacing.
At 15000 miles mine had serious flatspots.

200 miles on the City Grips. Wow what a tire. I'm grinding the center stand now. I didn't have this confidence at all with the IRC's. Now I just hope the city grips last longer.

I can't tell you how long the City Grips will last, but I have had them on all 3 of my bikes and they are superb! The grip and cornering are better than any tire I have ever had on a bike. I like them so much that I swapped the rear tire on my brand new PCX for a City Grip. That doesn't mean that the one that was on the bike was bad. I just prefer City Grip. :-)

My stock rear went for over 8000 miles. The front is still on there at 11k miles and still looks good.

I removed my centerstand and have ground my fairings a couple of times. The stock tires are fine for me. :)
